Having relinquished Fort Holman to the Confederacy without a shot being fired, Col. Pembroke (James Coburn) is in danger of a court-martial finding him guilty of treason. To escape certain death, he agrees to try to retake the lost fort using the services of seven men already condemned to death. The men are no happier to serve under him than he is to have them, but despite their own quarrels (and threats on the Colonel's life), they arrive at the fort and mount their attack. In this offbeat crime adventure, a downhill ski instructor at an Alpine resort involves himself in a conspiracy to rob the bank that lies in the resort town nearby. The heist is a success until a dogged insurance investigator threatens to reveal their identities unless they give him the loot. They hand it over and then realize that he was a phony. The three decide to split up. The ski instructor boards a train and who should be on it but the bogus detective. It turns out that the two of them had been in cahoots all along. The instructor is played by Jean-Claude Killy, an Olympic Skiing champion and the detective is played by famous Italian filmmaker Vittorio De Sica. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

In this epic costumer, a christianized Roman centurion fights back against those who would slaughter his fellow believers. His odyssey begins when Emperor Constantine dies and is replaced by a new Christian-hating Emperor. The centurion takes refuge in a barbarian camp. Later he returns to Rome as a gladiator and wins freedom for the Christians by beating three foes in the arena. Following a devastating earthquake, he is again sent to fight. Based on Flora Sandstrom's novel The Midwife of Pont Clery, this lightweight sexual farce involves the effect that Jessica (Angie Dickinson), a voluptuous midwife, has on the small Sicilian town in which she currently resides. Jessica is an American whose intentions may be charitable but whose physical attractions raise the libido of the men in town. Potential moms decide it is better to forego pregnancy by foregoing sex (this is a Catholic town) rather than have Jessica show up to deliver a baby. Meanwhile, the town priest (Maurice Chevalier), in his wisdom, directs Jessica's attention to the handsome widowed Marquis who lives in a charming castle, all alone -- anything to bring normal marital relations back on track. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
