This three-part story concerns occupied Greece during three different struggles and starts with "The Secret Wedding." The British invasion of Cyprus in 1957 finds a young farm-girl in love with a brave resistance fighter. After they are married, the groom is forces to flee from the British troops. "The Clock" takes place during the 1943 Italian invasion of Greece in which a priggish commander tries to drag the townsfolk into the modern world. The Greeks infuriate the military man with their willingness to wait out the war with as little personal involvement as possible. The giant clock in the town square is halted by a lack of oil and is symbolic of the commander's failure to instill a sense of urgency on the local population. In "Adversaries," director and writer George Cambanellis plays a German officer sent to Greece in 1944. Staying with a local family, he develops a friendship with the owner until the war tears them apart. ~ Dan Pavlides, All Movie Guide

The original Greek title of Policeman of the 16th Precinct is too long and too difficult to spell for us, so we'll just let it pass. This lower-level comedy concerns a bunch of petty crooks who like to sit around and chew the fat. The cops occasionally bust up the group, but with no charges against them, the crooks escape to yak away for another day. The principal topic of conversation is money, which seems to have been in short supply while the film was being made. For a non-Greek audience, Policeman of the 16th Precinct is an excellent cure for insomnia. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

A typical Greek comedy of the early '60s, this romantic tale is based on a stage play and follows the ups and downs in the love life of Julia (Tzeny Karezi), the daughter of business tycoon. Julia is used to getting her way since her father can afford almost anything, and so when she falls in love with one of his lowly clerks it is a bit of a problem. One of Greece's most popular actors, Dinos Iliopoulos plays the smitten clerk, Grigori. For some viewers, the pace may be too rushed and the acting too stylized and theatrical. Those aspects of the film betray its stage origins. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
