Police arrive on the scene to find that Heller (William Devane) and Audrey (Kim Raver) have been taken prisoner by the terrorists, while Richard (Logan Marshall-Green) hides in the house. Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) asks Driscoll (Alberta Watson) to reinstate him, but she wants to detain him for torturing Sherek. Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub) confides in Jack, telling him about Driscoll's mishandling of Andrew's call. She calls Andrew, who tells her that everyone in his office has been murdered, and the terrorists are after him. Unaware that a terrorist, Kalil Hasan (Anil Kumar), has cloned Andrew's cell and is listening in, Jack tells Andrew that he'll come to pick him up at Union Station in 30 minutes. Jack confronts Driscoll about ignoring Andrew's call, and demands to be reinstated, or he won't tell her where they've arranged to meet. Driscoll agrees to reinstate him temporarily, but insists that he work under Ronnie (Shawn Doyle). They head to the station, but Kalil gets there first, and pretends to be Jack in order to lure Andrew away. Meanwhile, at the Araz home, Behrooz (Jonathan Ahdout) is still in contact with his American girlfriend, Debbie (Leighton Meester), despite his parents' demand that he break things off. He goes on a crucial errand for Navi (Nestor Serrano), bringing the mysterious briefcase to the compound where (unbeknownst to Behrooz) Heller and Audrey are being held. Debbie, mistakenly thinking he's involved with another girl, follows him and is spotted by one of the terrorists. Behrooz later tells his father that Debbie didn't see anything incriminating, but Navi insists that he invite Debbie over to their house. As the hour closes, the terrorists blast the entire Internet with video of the captured Secretary of Defense, and explain that he'll be publicly tried for his crimes against humanity. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

Monk (Tony Shalhoub) is unexpectedly reunited with Sherry Judd (Donna Bullock), on whom he'd harbored a hopeless crush in his junior high school days. But it's hardly a happy reunion: Someone has murdered Sherry's housekeeper and defaced a valuable painting of her grandmother. As Monk investigates the case on Sherry's behalf, he repeatedly recalls incidents from his troubled childhood, incidents which seem to be paralleled by current events involving Sherry's ex-husband Michael Norfleet (David Hunt)--who of course had been Monk's principal rival for Sherry's affections back in the day. The story reaches its startling climax when a hitherto unsuspected third party--yet another of Sherry's childhood sweethearts--makes himself known. Monk (Tony Shalhoub) takes on his most unusual client when a chimpanzee named Darwin (played by Mowgli of The Dennis Miller Show fame) is accused of killing record producer Ian Blackburn (Stewart McLennan), who was hiding in his supposedly impenetrable "panic room" at the time of his death. Despite his mortal fear of the overaffectionate and highly unsanitary Darwin, Monk quickly sets about following the trail of clues, which lead to Blackburn's far-from-faithful widow Chloe (Carmen Electra) and the dead man's security expect Kurt Wolff (Brad Hawkins). Meanwhile, Sharona (Bitty Schram) pulls off a daring midnight rescue of Darwin on the night of his scheduled "execution"--and installs the chimp in Monk's spotless, germ-free apartment (well, it WAS spotless and germ-free, anyway...) ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Bette Midler stars as a Martha Raye-type entertainer during the World War II era in this big-budget nostalgia piece. Midler plays big-band singer Dixie Leonard, who is chosen to perform at an overseas USO Christmas show by her uncle Art Silver (George Segal), a comedy writer for famed comedian Eddie Sparks (James Caan). Dixie is shuttled to London, where she is thrown on-stage with Eddie, who takes an immediate dislike to her. But her performance is a sensation, and the audience can't stop howling at Dixie's smart one-liner comebacks to Eddie. Dixie is catapulted to stardom, and the repartee between Eddie and Dixie becomes the stuff of legend. The two spar together through World War II, the McCarthy era, and Vietnam. But Dixie stops speaking to Eddie when he fires a writer for being a communist sympathizer and, later, she doesn't speak to him again after he arranges for a reunion between her and her son on the battlefields of Vietnam. Finally, Dixie, now an old woman, is cajoled to appear on a television awards show to reunite with a now decrepit Eddie, age 91. ~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide

When it was first telecast on November 23, 1986, the made-for-TV Thanksgiving Promise (based on a novel by Blaine and Brenton Yorgason) was advertised as "A Thanksgiving Story as Only Disney Can Tell It." Actually, the film might not have come to fruition at all without the input of the Bridges family: Lloyd, Beau, Lloyd's wife Dorothy, Beau's son Jordan, and Jeff Bridges (uncredited). Jordan Bridges is the central character, a farm boy living in the shadow of his older brothers. Jordan's neighbor (Lloyd) entrusts the boy with a man-sized job: To care for a wounded gosling and fatten up the bird for Thanksgiving dinner. Inevitably, Jordan becomes attached to the bird, and as Thanksgiving approaches, he takes a series of odd jobs, hoping to buy the goose from his neighbor. But Jordan's father (Beau) insists that the boy keep his word and relinquish the goose. In addition to his costarring chores in Thanksgiving Promise, Beau Bridges coproduced and directed the film. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
In this sci-fi comedy, a high school hood, Michael Harlan, procrastinates on his science project until the day before it is due. Hastily seeking to rectify his predicament, the youth begins scouring an abandoned military dump and runs across a strange looking machine with a large crystal orb. He has no idea that it belonged to a shot down alien space craft and that it contains not only the power to generate time warps, it can also destroy the world. If he did, he might not have turned it on. Unfortunately, he does activate it and sends his entire class back in time. Ever since the "Topper" movies made ghosts likeable and helpful, films like The Heavenly Kid have taken up the theme with varying degrees of success. In this version of life after death, Bobby (Lewis Smith) is a teen who dies in a drag race as he goes over a cliff. He then enters a curious "mass transit" system that will not take him "uptown" until he returns back to earth and gains a little more virtue. And so Bobby is assigned the thankless task of converting Lenny (Jason Gedrick) into a self-confident individual who can date women without fear (not exactly on a par with bringing peace to the world, but this is a teen movie). There are some twists and turns along the way, though nothing shakes up the status quo or ventures beyond the already imagined. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
