In this spaghetti western, the head of a band of desperadoes steals the gold from a Union fort and hides it before the leader is captured by Yankee soldiers. In captivity, the outlaw is tortured by a sadistic Army officer, formerly the trader who conned him into the heist. The torture will not stop until the thief reveals the location of the gold. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

"There will always be...SONS OF HERCULES!!!" So goes the tacked-on TV theme music of the Italian sword and sandal opus Invincible Gladiators. One of those sons of Hercules is herein played by Richard Lloyd (though Herk's name is never alluded to in the dialogue). A beautiful princess has been kidnapped, and a handsome prince is beside himself. Lloyd offers his services to the prince, doing battle with the minions of an evil queen. Hopefully, when you catch up with Invincible Gladiators, the film's color process won't have faded into living brown, as has happened with many entries in the "Sons of Hercules" TV package. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Based on a Spanish literary classic, this excellent costume drama follows the adventures of Lazarillo (Marco Paoletti), a young impoverished boy who has no one to financially or emotionally support and nurture him. So he becomes the cohort of a villainous, blind beggar as the only ready means of survival. Next, he hooks up with an impecunious cleric who in that regard, is not much different than the beggar. Lazarillo then continues on his way and finds a supposed nobleman who turns out to have about as much money as Lazarillo -- nada. Finally, the lad joins up with a troupe of actors, a family who wanders from town to town performing, and finally life begins to look more interesting. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

Director Riccardo Freda does not take this uninspired, turgid spy film very far in its story about a federal agent (Edmund Purdom) and his efforts at blasting apart an international drug cartel. In one of the more unlikely turns of a plotline, the agent falls in love with the daughter of the cartel's head honcho. Needless to say, he is not expecting his future father-in-law to give his blessings at any possible nuptials. Instead, the action pits the agent against his arch-enemy as circumstances plod along (unless racing through an action scene in speeded-up time) to a final and deadly confrontation. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
