One of four low-budget Mexican horror productions to star an ailing Boris Karloff in a supporting (but top-billed) role, this odd little number features the horror legend as the dying forebear of an eccentric family, whose heirs descend like vultures on his palatial home when they learn of his impending demise... which apparently occurs shortly after their arrival. Little do they realize that their plucky patriarch has laid some elaborate traps for them, employing his collection of life-size automatons. The cast wanders about through dimly-lit sets for what seems like an eternity before being slain by the wind-up robots in a variety of gory ways, but the violent, bloody climax comes far too late to rescue viewers from the endless drudgery. ~ Cavett Binion, All Movie Guide

The disaster genre gets the exploitation treatment in this gruesome tale of survival at sea from director René Cardona Jr. In the wake of a violent cyclone, the remaining passengers of a downed airplane find refuge on a passing boat carrying the survivors of a shipwreck. Without a clue where in the world they are, a shortage of food and water, and the surrounding waters teeming with man-eating sharks, the tensions are soon on the rise. Actor turned director Rodolfo De Anda's farcical sci-fi-comedy was based on Mauricio Iglesias' novel, El Amor Es una Farsa, although the laughs aren't as pointed or frequent. Andres Garcia toplines as a man with surgically enhanced super-strength (the title clearly an effort to capitalize on the international success of The Six Million Dollar Man). Despite his gifts, poor Garcia is still a flop with the opposite sex and he goes to ridiculous lengths -- including posing as Count Dracula -- to reverse his romantic fortunes. Familiar genre faces along for this very silly ride include Isela Vega, Roberto Guzman, and Rafael Inclan. De Anda went on to direct the overwrought La Carcel de Laredo before deciding to keep concentrating on his acting career. ~ Robert Firsching, All Movie Guide

The time is 1808 and Napoleon's French army is invading Spain. They are about to conquer Barcelona and Madrid, and put Napoleon's brother Joseph Bonaparte on the Spanish throne -- for awhile, anyway. The legend that this film portrays is about a drummer boy who was pivotal in turning the tide against the invading French army at Bruch Pass, saving the day for the Catalan soldiers. A final, grand battle highlights the climax of the film, certainly geared for the younger set. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

The comic trilogy that began with La Primera Noche comes to a close in this blend of sex and laughter from Mexico. Gloria (Cecilia Gabriela) shocks her family when she announces that she's going to marry for the fourth time. They're even more surprised when they discover her husband-to-be is Fabián (Andres Garcia), a veteran television actor whose career has gone into a slump. Gloria has decided this time around she's willing to do anything to make her marriage work, but does that include following Fabian's suggestion that she get breast implants? Meanwhile, her daughter Luzma (Mariana Avila) is tying the knot with her fiancé, Fernando (Ricardo Palacios), but their wedding night proves to be a disaster, with the sexually inexperienced groom unable to satisfy his new bride. Will these newlyweds have to take lovers on the side to get the pleasure they need? ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

American and Venezuelan foreigners try to steal coveted seeds from a rubber-tree plantation in this action-adventure saga. They battle crocodiles, Indian attacks, slave revolts, and a director who insisted on putting disco music to a 19th-century setting. The two heroes are hidden by a concubine who seeks vengeance against her cruel plantation owner. A rape scene appears to have been added merely for exploitation value. ~ Dan Pavlides, All Movie Guide
