Filmed in 1982 in New York, this comedy hinges on a tried-and-true plot device: a man has less than a day to get married or he loses a fortune (no waiting for blood tests or licenses here!). When the fabulously wealthy W.D. Westmoreland (Jonathan Winters) dies, his grandson Luke (Art Hindle) discovers that he will inherit $250 million if he marries before he is 35. Since he turns thirty-five tomorrow, that leaves him less than 24 hours to find a bride and make it legal. Everything impedes his good intentions, including his father, who stands to inherit that money if Luke remains a bachelor. There are a lot of volunteers for Luke's open position of an immediate wife, but what makes matters even more complicated is he has developed an interest in a young, average-looking woman from the countryside. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

In a comedy as flat as the cardboard cut-outs of movie stars that appear in one scene, Steve Martin plays Larry Hubbard, a wild and lonely guy who has been dumped by his girlfriend. Since misery loves company, he takes up with Warren, a fellow Lonely Guy (Charles Grodin), and eventually both Warren and Larry find some surprising companions, especially after Larry writes a best-selling Lonely Guy Guide. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

In this adventure, Pat Morrison (Burt Reynolds) leads a group of World War II veterans back to the Philippines in search of gold hidden prior to the Japanese invasion. A professional tennis player (Anne Francis) hires Morrison because her aging father's health won't permit him to make the trek. Their moves through the jungle terrain are monitored by villains who covet the riches, hoping Morrison and company will do all the work before they step in and steal the loot. Unclear is the reason the woman's father was dismissed from the army during the war in the Pacific, as well as the motives for the recovery and his absence from the expedition. ~ Dan Pavlides, All Movie Guide
