Gary Parker was a class 'A" character and during his lifetime had many interesting jobs including rare book trader and distributor of exploitation films, but he is best known as respected UFO "expert" and phenomenologist who had a large, devoted following who take his bogus work very seriously. This documentary, with remarkable restraint and nary a smirk, exposes Parker for the charlatan he was. Done in a minimalist style that would have impressed Ed Wood, Jr., and filmed in black and white, the film traces the beginnings of the late Parker's elaborate ruse through interviews with those who knew different aspects of his personality. These range from friends and family members to business associates to other UFO-ologists, to a folklorist, to a former gay lover. Also interviewed is the library curator who inherited Parker's bizarre "collection" of writings. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
