Sam Donaldson Movies

A timeless figure in the field of TV news, Sam Donaldson studied at the New Mexico Military Institute and then at Texas Western College, where he served as the station manager for KTEP in El Paso. Following a tour of duty as an artillery officer for the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1959, he began pursuing a long term career in journalism, eventually working as an anchor for local TV network affiliates.
Donaldson began delivering to a national audience by submitting reports from the field in Vietnam for ABC in 1971. He went on to become the network's chief White House correspondent, and over the course of the '80s, '90s, and 2000s, he would serve as the chief anchor for ABC's World News Sunday, take over hosting duties for This Week with David Brinkley, and anchor the news magazine show Prime Time Live. ~ Cammila Albertson, All Movie Guide

The Queen Mother of all dirty words (as it was once described by Jean Shepherd) is examined through all its linguistic, sociological, legal, and ethical implications in this documentary. Filmmaker Steven Anderson interviews dozens of people about the history and function of "the F word," including language historians who have a hard time nailing down its origin, writers (including Hunter S. Thompson and Ben Bradlee) who talk about its role in literature and press freedom, comedians (among them Drew Carey, Janeane Garofalo, and Billy Connolly) who ponder its frequent presence in hipster humor, pop musicians (such as Ice-T, Pat Boone, and Alanis Morissette) who offer their theories about its role in contemporary culture, and social critics (including Michael Medved and Dennis Prager) who believe its currency is taking America into a dangerous place. F*ck also includes footage of famous figures caught using the word unexpectedly and animated sequences by Bill Plympton. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

President Clinton: Final Days shows a lost and lonely Bill Clinton (playing himself) wandering the empty corridors of the White House during the final days of his presidency. Ignored by his staff and by the press, Clinton fills his time with such activities as mowing the lawn, watching movies, and cleaning the presidential limousine. Aside from the classic sharpness of its satire, what distinguishes President Clinton: Final Days is its authenticity -- that's the real White House lawn, the real presidential staff, the real press briefing room, and so on. Produced for the 2000 White House Correspondents Dinner, President Clinton: Final Days is an unprecedented exercise in self-deprecating political humor. ~ Richard Gilliam, All Movie Guide
