A polygamous couple discover that jealousy and infidelity cuts deep no matter how many spouses you have in this drama from writer and director Souleymane Cisse. Issa (Assane Kouyate) is an artist from Mali who is married to Mimi (Sokona Gakou), who works with a firm bringing international business into the Third World. Following the local custom, Issa has taken a second wife who is prettier and more youthful than Mimi, but Mimi isn't happy with this arrangement, and she begins dating Abba (Alou Sissoko), a seafood wholesaler who has two wives of his own. Issa begins to suspect that there's someone else in Mimi's life, and while he feels entitled to have as many wives as he pleases, the notion that one of them might be unfaithful to him is more than he can stand. Min Ye . . . (aka Tell Me Who You Are) was an official selection at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Directed by African filmmaker Assane Kouyate, Kabala mixes technology with ancient traditions. When an elderly man reveals that his son Hammala (Modibo Traore) is the illegitimate son of a purported witch, the ugly side of social customs rears its head. Shunned by the community, an ashamed Hammala leaves the village, only to return four years later, despite his outcast status. The conflict between ancient customs and progress comes to a head when when Hammala's attempts to clean up the well of holy water, which is contaminated with cholera, are met with staunch opposition from the villages' official shaman (Sory Ibrahima Koita). Simultaneously, the woman he loves (Djeneba Kone) is being married off to a corrupt local named Seriba (Fily Traore). Magic does manage to play a significant role, however, when forces beyond logical explanation push the villagers into Hammala's home. ~ Tracie Cooper, Rovi

There the people come to gossip, empathize and look for hope. Mother Bavusi and her sons Mike, Kapa and Duka are central characters at the bar. Mike is a mechanic while Kapa is a boxer. Duka resulted from an affair between his mother and Sandu. Most of the ensuing vignettes begin and end in the bar. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
