The numbers are frightening: according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 200,000 people may be infected with Lyme disease annually. Yet despite the fact that new cases of Lyme disease outnumber new cases of AIDS, West Nile Virus, and Avian Flu combined, this frightening malady seems to go virtually ignored in the mainstream media. As young girls audition for an acting role during this film, they reveal some of the most vulnerable aspects of their youthful personalities. Each youngster has chosen her own audition material in hopes of impressing the adults in charge of casting. Beautiful poems and dramatic monologues are read with varying degrees of emotion and pathos. This amiable gently paced comedy centers on the adventures of a really laid-back, ambitionless Austin guitarist who leaves his comfortable slow-lane life for New York City just to please his girl friend. Unfortunately, she has to fight to get him up there. He then misses the flight and by the time he finally arrives in the Big Apple, she has had enough and gives him the boot. That night, he wanders about, gets drunk and hooks up with a streetwalker. Meanwhile, his girl friend finds that New York isn't nearly as interesting as she'd hoped.
