Eddie Murphy gets way, way out in this futuristic sci-fi comedy. In the year 2087, the Earth's natural resources have been largely depleted, and an increasingly large number of people have taken up residence on the moon, where the pioneering attitude of the new residents has created a culture not unlike the old west. Pluto Nash (Eddie Murphy) is one such lunar exile who formerly made his living outside the law, but has since gone straight and now runs the hippest nightclub in the moon colony known as "Little America." Pluto is approached by Mogan (Joe Pantoliano), a gangster who wants to buy the nightclub; Pluto has no interest in selling, but it seems Mogan isn't about to take no for an answer. Pluto also discovers Mogan is in cahoots with Max Crater, a crime boss whose goal is to take over the entire moon. The Adventures Of Pluto Nash also features Randy Quaid as Pluto's robot bodyguard, Rosario Dawson as a naive singer who has just arrived on the moon, Peter Boyle as Rowland the pool hustler, Jay Mohr as old-school lounge singer Tony Francis, Illeana Douglas as a cloning technician, and Pam Grier as Pluto's mother. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

An ailing criminal and his excitement-starved nurse decide to knock over a bank for fun and profit in this comic suspense story. Legendary bank robber Henry Manning (Paul Newman) pushes his luck too far and ends up in prison, where he suffers a massive stroke. He is transferred to a nursing home, in the care of Carol Ann McKay (Linda Fiorentino), a high school prom queen who married her boyfriend Wayne (Dermot Mulroney), the star of her school's football team, and whose glamour days are well behind her. After a few of her personal effects mysteriously disappear, Carol Ann starts to suspect that Henry isn't as sick as he seems, and she and Wayne are soon working with Henry to plan his last and greatest score. The title comes from the remark attributed to the outlaw Willie Sutton, who when asked why he robbed banks, replied, "Because that's where the money is." ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

After their father died and their mother left them for a life in Spain with her Spanish lover, the Tanguay siblings were understandably perturbed. To protect their younger sister Isabelle (Fanny Mallette) from the truth, sisters Catherine (Marina Orsini) and Martine (Celine Bonnier) and brother Luc (Stephane Demers) told Isabelle that their mother had died. Unfortunately, twenty years later, the repercussions of this lie are all too apparent: Isabelle, now 25, has the emotional maturity of an 11-year-old, and harbors a grudge against the world and Catherine -- now a schoolteacher -- in particular. This Canadian comedy-drama from Quebec centers upon the mid-life crisis of one middle-class man who falls in love with a stripper and abandons his family. He is Real, a high-school teacher with the regulation attractive wife, two cute kids, and a lovely home in the suburbs. He leads a dull, predictable life until he and his buddies head to the local strip joint and see the luscious Angie singing a gutsy rock & roll tune and doing her act in a see-through body suit,. Intrigued, he decides to hang around and have a drink with her. He then takes her to her apartment and they end up engaged in fast and furious illicit behavior. Unable to contain his little secret, he blurts out details of the affair to his librarian wife at her work-place. She does not take it gracefully and a terrible row ensues. Milque-toast Real's involvement with Angie brings him into a seamy world filled with drugs, crime and gangsters. Danny Glover and Ruben Blades costar in this made-for-cable death row thriller. Blades plays a condemned prisoner, while Glover plays his psychiatrist. The prisoner's behavior is so violent and erratic that he may be too sick to execute. Glover is brought in to calm Blades down--and if he does so, he will certify that Blades is ready for execution.
