Glory Annen Movies
Meant to be a parody of the recent invasions of Grenada and the Falkland Islands, this comedy about the laid-back governor (Michael Caine) of "Cascara," a fictional British island somewhere in the Caribbean, and the international parade of characters who come through his territory is a pastiche without a clear center. Among these multinational characters are an American industrialist out to exploit the island's rich source of mineral water -- also the source of all the subsequent trouble on the island -- some inexplicable French-German visitors, a singing revolutionary with ties to Fidel Castro, and various parodies of Brit diplomats and politicians, Margaret Thatcher included. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

A big-budget spin-off from the series of three successful Superman movies, this film stars Helen Slater as the counterpart to the famous comic-book superhero. Supergirl is Kara, Superman's young cousin. She is sent to Earth is search of a Krypton power source, a lost ring that has been turned into a paperweight. She disguises herself as Linda Lee, a meek high-school student. Peter O'Toole is Zaltar, a mad villain who wants to use the power of the ring to take over the world. Faye Dunaway plays the evil sorceress Selena, who is also plotting to get the gem and uses her incredible powers of black magic in service of her scheme. Linda Lee meets Ethan (Hart Bochner), who is under a spell cast by Selena, which causes him to fall in love with the first person he sees. Selena had intended to use the spell to make Ethan fall in love with her, and she is furious when his affections are directed toward Supergirl. ~ Michael Betzold, All Movie Guide

This undistinguished drama goes no further than clichéd views about women who gain success by bedding down those who have it. Pia Zadora stars as Jerilee, just out of high school and married to a prominent Hollywood screenwriter, with her own heart-felt aspirations to get her screenplays noticed by the right producers. Her marriage fails for many reasons and once on her own, she comes to the difficult decision that she really will go nowhere fast unless she uses her sexual charms to pave the way to recognition -- and so she does, with a bit of revenge thrown in at the end for good measure. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

This softcore sex romp borrows heavily from Emmanuelle but still has plenty to offer in other areas. Fans of the genre are likely to enjoy Felicity because it takes a lighthearted, romantic approach to erotica that makes it fun to watch even when it is marking time between sex scenes. Glory Annen makes an attractive yet natural-looking starlet, and her story takes the form of an engaging travelogue-style narrative that explores every opportunity to indulge in erotic goings-on. However, the best thing about Felicity is the thorough approach it takes in delivering the sexy goods; the filmmakers wisely set the action in Hong Kong to give the film an exotic flair, and director John Lamond gives the film a glossy look that does an effective job of expressing its overheated mood in visual terms. It's also the rare film in this genre in which the main character learns something about love while pursuing sex, an aspect that further enhances its appeal. In short, Felicity is one of the better examples of the sexploitation genre and an entertaining trip back to the heyday of the sexual revolution. ~ Donald Guarisco, All Movie Guide

An extraterrestrial alien lands in England in search of edible protein for his home planet. After attacking a young couple necking in a car, the creature assumes the body of the hapless male (Barry Stokes) and stumbles through the woods, trying to get used to his new physical form. The next morning he inadvertently trespasses on property owned by Jessica (Glory Annen), who lives in seclusion with her lesbian lover Josephine (Sally Faulkner). Jessica is friendly and invites the stranger inside when she notices him limping, though Josephine hates all men and guards their relationship jealously. He identifies himself as "Anders" (the name of the boy he killed) and quietly follows them back to the farmhouse. Both women are disturbed by Anders' bizarre behavior; he doesn't know what tea is, isn't quite sure where he came from, and vomits when he tries to eat the salad they prepare. But when Jessica begins to suspect that Josephine has taken her jealousy and hatred of males to murderous extremes in the past, she starts thinking of Anders as a possible ally. Meanwhile, Anders tests chickens, a parakeet, a fox, and a pair of policemen for their comestible value, and finally turns his appetite towards his hostesses. ~ Fred Beldin, All Movie Guide
In this erotic drama based on an infamous novel by the Marquis de Sade, two sisters are raised in a convent, where they suffer all manner of abuse. The girls are eventually expelled for misbehavior, and make their way to London, where they find work in a brothel. One is able to adjust to the realities of her new life, but the other rebels and runs away, only to fall victim to an especially cruel fate. Justine, which was also released under the title Cruel Passion, stars Koo Stark, who gained notoriety in 1982 after it became public knowledge that she had a brief affair with Britain's Prince Andrew. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
