Circumstances force a filmmaker to reexamine his attitudes about his art and creative principles in this personal project from writer and director Dante Desarthe. Daniel Danite (Desarthe) has spent months putting together his next movie, an ambitious big-budget affair starring Juliette Binoche, but when his star and his financing disappear, the director finds himself starting from scratch. While Daniel has long believed that real filmmaking means shooting on thirty-five millimeter stock, a friend persuades him that ultra-low-budget digital video projects are the wave of the future, and with few resources available to him, Daniel swallows his pride and decides to give it a try. Putting together a makeshift crew and a cast willing to work for next to nothing, Daniel sets out to make a down-and-dirty DV project, but the new approach proves to be a challenge to his talents and expectations, and matters become even more difficult for Daniel when his wife announces she wants a divorce. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

What do three hitmen, a lost foreskin, and the pope have to do with each other? This wacky French comedy answers this question and many more. Set during the 1997 papal visit to Paris, 23-year old father Jonas (Clemont Sibony) is given his son's foreskin in a wad of tissues after the bris and solemnly told to bury it in three days without fail. Three days later, Jonas suddenly remembers his sacred duties while playing keyboards at a bar mitzvah and tries to leave. Unfortunately, the bar mitzvah boy's father comes to believe that Jonas has been flirting with his drunk and buxom wife Sophie (Emmanuelle Devos) and orders him murdered by three of his crack hitmen. Later, when Jonas tries to comfort Nina (Rona Hartner), a Romanian hell-bent on seeing the pope, he unwittingly gives her the exact wad of tissues that contain the foreskin. Tracking down Nina and finding a suitable place to bury the foreskin in the urban scrawl of Paris proves to be no easy task. ~ Jonathan Crow, Rovi

In this snappy French comedy, a young man goes on a quest to find the enigmatic fast-food woman with "the hair the color of French fries" who gave him his first taste of l'amour. The fellow is the naive, amiable orphan Jean-Louis who spent his life with his elderly and very strict grandfather. Jean-Louis was a 25-year old virgin when the free-spirited young Parisian woman was temporarily stranded in his village after a bus broke down. She left him a changed man, and she also left a match book from a fast food restaurant called Fast Burger. Soon after his grandfather passes away, the innocent rube Jean-Louis hops on his bike and embarks upon a quest to Paris to find this enigmatic woman. But he is not prepared for the size of Paris, and instead ends up working at a Fast Burger outlet himself. Jean-Louis is a simple soul and freely expresses himself without guile. For some reason this endears him to the staff and management; soon he has been promoted into the upper echelons of the company. One day he meets a rather ditzy Metro security guard, Henriette, who is also at sea in the big city. The kindred spirits click and a sweet romance ensues. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
