A family goes through some changes when an unusual sort of drifter crosses their path in this independent coming-of-age drama. Jake (Danny Alexander) is a homeless 15-year-old kid with a fondness for stealing things and a precocious appetite for older women. Jake is passing through a small Montana town as he continues his search for the mother who abandoned him years before when he meets Tucker (Hunter Parrish) while stealing the radio out of his truck. Though Tucker is a bit older than Jake, Jake's rough-and-tumble existence has added a few years to his life experience, and after a scuffle over the radio, the boys become fast friends. Tucker brings Jake home for a square meal, and while Tucker's father (John Terry) is wary of the young drifter, he agrees to let him stay for a few days in the family's barn. However, it turns out Dad was right not to trust Jake; not only does he get caught stealing trinkets from Tucker's younger sister, he becomes amorously involved with a married middle-aged woman who lives nearby. While Jake tends to this affair and toys with the trust of the family who has taken him in, he also offers some advice to Tucker on how to win the attentions of Lily Rose (Paz de la Huerta), a neighborhood girl he has a crush on. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Writer/director Loren-Paul Caplin crafts this dark deconstruction on the contemporary obsession with fame and celebrity concerning a New York City tabloid journalist whose decadent lifestyle prompts a painful journey of self-discovery. Lorenzo is a C-level celebrity stalker whose sensationalistic stories serve as pop-culture fodder for the substance-starved masses. He works for FAME-TV, and lately his lifestyle has devolved into an unfulfilling cycle of decadent parties, casual sex, and fast-food spiritualism. Upon attempting to improve the quality of his work by exploring the relationships between chance, luck, and destiny, Lorenzo finds one of his older stories taking a sinister, and particularly sordid turn. As a result, Lorenzo's deep-rooted self-loathing is suddenly intensified, prompting a serious reevaluation of his own core values. But Lorenzo's soul has already been deeply corrupted, and by the time an unusual medical ritual unlocks both his strengths and his demons, the high cost of redemption may be more than he's willing to pay. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

This endearing romantic comedy about two high school girls, blue collar tomboy Randy (Laurel Holloman) and privileged, popular Evie (Nicole Ari Parker), was the first mainstream success for director Maria Maggenti, who chronicles the odd couple's relationship from tentative first steps to full-blossoming romance. Cast almost entirely with newcomers, The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love brings Randy's family (a lesbian aunt and an assortment of current and past partners), Evie's well-heeled and overprotective mother (Stephanie Barry), and a collection of friends, enemies, one ex-boyfriend (Andrew Wright), and one unsatisfactory affair (Maggie Moore) into the mix, balancing the excitement and passion of adolescent romance with the pitfalls of social and familial rejection. Maintains a light and quirky tone throughout, reminiscent in many ways of the teen comedies of John Hughes. ~ Genevieve Williams, Rovi
