An aimless middle-aged man finds salvation through a guardian-angel in this Italian film. The tale, told in flashback, chronicles the life of Dino who after 50-years has yet to find success and has taken to wandering the streets of Rome. His boyhood friend was Daniele who grew up to become a priest. Daniele provided Dino with a sense of balance, but after he died, poor Dino was more adrift than ever. It is only after Daniele returns from the dead to become Dino's advisor and guardian that his life begins to finally assume meaning and find a direction. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
A young Italian Communist couple come to grips with the fall of Italy's Communist Party and find themselves drifting apart in this Italian-French drama. As the Berlin Wall collapsed in the late '80s, so did the Italian Communist Party. In it's stead has come the more left-wing party the PDS. Since adolescence, Mario and Maria Boschi have been good communist party members. Now that the party is gone, they find themselves drifting apart; especially when Mario eagerly joins the new party while Maria remains a steadfast Communist. Maria soon finds herself drawn to Sicilian Communist Mario Della Rocca. He too is married, but when Maria's mate goes to a conference, she and the new Mario begin a romance. The experience of falling in and out of love makes Maria physically ill. She recuperates at her brother's house and subsequently makes love to the Sicilian. The months fly by. The three are all living alone as they reconcile their many problems. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

In this earnest docudrama, ten episodes depicting the suffering arising out of drug-use are shown. In one story, a pharmacist working an overnight shift helps a boy through drug withdrawal. In another, a mother whose daughter is now free of drugs gives her a pair of valuable coral earrings as a celebratory gift. In another, an newborn is shown suffering from withdrawal: his mother was addicted throughout her pregnancy. Each scene illustrates some aspect of the travails of drug addiction, but never simplistically blames the victims alone for their plight. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

Rocco Mortelliti takes the blame for directing and starring in this insipid drama. Adelmo is the impoverished village idiot who lives with his equally addle-brained mother (Rina Franchetti). She recites prayers when she is not eating his food or beating him. Paola (Francesca Topi) is the pretty female physician who takes an interest in Adelmo because he resembles her late sweetheart. Her attention to the unfortunate Adelmo makes him the target of her jealous suitors -- including the town's lecherous Mayor (Vincenzo De Angelis). The humiliated and emotionally damaged Adelmo hides in the woods for three days before becoming a raving lunatic bent on violent vengeance to his tormenters. ~ Dan Pavlides, All Movie Guide
