Lori Heuring Movies

Model-turned-actress Lori Heuring has earned as much attention for her looks as her acting. Panama-born, Texas-bred Heuring first moved to Hollywood in her late teens, after beginning her on-camera career as a model, and scored bit parts in John G. Avildsen's rodeo story 8 Seconds (1994), as well as on the TV series Beverly Hills 90210 and Ellen. Though she moved back to hometown Austin, TX, for several years to earn a college degree, Heuring returned to Hollywood after graduation. Picking up where she left off, Heuring briefly appeared in Richard Linklater's youth Western The Newton Boys (1998), and guest-starred on several TV series, including 7th Heaven and Early Edition. After a small part in the independent film Restaurant (1998), Heuring moved to starring roles with her performance as the beautiful, scheming former mental patient in the thriller The In Crowd (2000). Though The In Crowd failed to make it with the box office crowd, Heuring also gained notice as one of lad magazine Maxim's "Hot 100" girls. ~ Lucia Bozzola, All Movie Guide

Tess Gallagher (Kathleen Quinlan) is naturally upset when the husband of her daughter Jenny (Lori Heuring abandons his family--to run off with another man. Before long, however, Tess has gotten over the initial shock, and is industriously mounting a campaign to find a new husband for Tess, and a new father for Tess' wisecracking son Jesse (Lori Heuring). Not altogether with her daughter's blessing, Tess places Jenny's picture and bio on the "Perfect Match" dating website, resulting in proposals (and propositions) from lonely guys all over the world. The most attractive and personable of these internet Romeos is British college professor Peter Campbell (Henry Ian Cusick), who is himself coming off a failed romance--and who, incidentally is years older than Jenny. Howver, the question posed by this made-for-cable movie is not "Can a May-December affair be truly successful?", but rather "For pity's sake, Jenny, when will you wake up notice how your best friend Miles Healey (Michael Trucco) is silently pining away for you????" Perfect Romance debuted over the Lifetime network on June 7, 2004. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

A man struggling to do the right thing for his child finds himself at odds with his family in this emotional drama. Luke Perry stars in this biography of the late Lane Frost, a champion bull rider who in 1987 won a rodeo world championship at the tender age of 21. In Eight Seconds (the title refers to the minimum amount of time a rider must stay on a bull in competition), Lane Frost is a young man from Oklahoma who learns to ride, hoping to win the approval of his emotionally distant father. As Lane works his way up the rodeo circuit with his best friend Tuff Hedeman (Stephen Baldwin), he meets Kelly Kyle (Cynthia Geary), a pretty barrel-race rider with whom he falls in love. Lane and Kelly marry, but Lane stubbornly refuses any help from Kelly's wealthy parents, forcing the young couple to live a hand-to-mouth existence, and while Lane's dedication to rodeo and its fans earns him a devoted following, it also keeps him away from Kelly and threatens to sink their relationship. Lane's hard work pays off when he wins the 1987 world championship, but the danger of the sport catches up with him two years later, when he dies as a result of an accident during competition. Country star Vince Gill appears onscreen with his band; keep an eye peeled for a brief appearance by Renee Zellweger, two years before her breakthrough role in Jerry Maguire. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Two talented young people head to California looking for fame, but find love along the way in this romantic drama. Luke (Steven Strait) is a struggling rock musician who has decided to leave New York City for the seemingly greener pastures of Los Angeles. A few days before he leaves, he spots a beautiful girl on the subway who gives him a big smile, giving him brief second thoughts. However, Luke heads out to L.A. anyway, and after months of scuffling lands a gig -- and sees the beautiful girl, Brier (Pell James), in the audience. Three people attempt to bend justice for their own purposes in this drama based on the best-selling novel by John Grisham. After a man dies in a shooting incident, his wife files a lawsuit against the company that manufactured the gun, with her lawyer, Wendell Rohr (Dustin Hoffman), arguing that the firm in question knew the shop which sold the weapon was not following federal regulations pertaining to the sale of firearms. As the case goes to trial, the firearm manufacturer is taking no chances on the outcome of a potentially devastating case, and they hire as part of their legal team Rankin Fitch (Gene Hackman), a "jury consultant" who makes it his business to see that he knows enough about the jurors to be able to guarantee the result of the trial. Fitch and his team have learned incriminating secrets about nearly everyone hearing the evidence, but Fitch discovers two factors he wasn't counting upon -- Nick Easter (John Cusack), the jury member who appears to have an agenda all his own, and Marlee (Rachel Weisz), a mysterious woman who has her own plans regarding bending the jury to her will. Bruce Davison, Jeremy Piven, and Bruce McGill round out the supporting cast. Incidentally, in John Grisham's original book, the case was filed against a cigarette manufacturer, but the producers opted to adjust the story after several real-life trials against tobacco companies. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
