"Stupid is as stupid does," says Forrest Gump (played by Tom Hanks in an Oscar-winning performance) as he discusses his relative level of intelligence with a stranger while waiting for a bus. Despite his sub-normal IQ, Gump leads a truly charmed life, with a ringside seat for many of the most memorable events of the second half of the 20th century. Entirely without trying, Forrest teaches Elvis Presley to dance, becomes a football star, meets John F. Kennedy, serves with honor in Vietnam, meets Lyndon Johnson, speaks at an anti-war rally at the Washington Monument, hangs out with the Yippies, defeats the Chinese national team in table tennis, meets Richard Nixon, discovers the break-in at the Watergate, opens a profitable shrimping business, becomes an original investor in Apple Computers, and decides to run back and forth across the country for several years. Meanwhile, as the remarkable parade of his life goes by, Forrest never forgets Jenny (Robin Wright Penn), the girl he loved as a boy, who makes her own journey through the turbulence of the 1960s and 1970s that is far more troubled than the path Forrest happens upon. Featured alongside Tom Hanks are Sally Field as Forrest's mother; Gary Sinise as his commanding officer in Vietnam; Mykelti Williamson as his ill-fated Army buddy who is familiar with every recipe that involves shrimp; and the special effects artists whose digital magic place Forrest amidst a remarkable array of historical events and people. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Disney filmed its version of the Jack London story in 1991 and followed with this sequel four years later. Besides the presence of a dog named White Fang and its setting in the Alaska Gold Rush days, the story bears no resemblance to London's original story. Jack Conroy (Ethan Hawke), the hero of the first Disney film, has bequeathed his gold mine and the wild wolf-dog White Fang to young Henry Casey (Scott Barstow). The boy and dog thwart a would-be thief and decide to take their gold to San Francisco. While rafting to the nearest town, they capsize, lose their gold, and are separated. Lily (Charmaine Craig), a young Indian princess, rescues Henry from the rapids. She, along with her tribal chief Moses (Al Harrington) and his followers, believes that Henry is the reincarnation of a great spirit wolf who will help the Haida tribe find the Great Caribou. Henry and Lily fall in love, and Henry sets out to find the legendary Caribou who will save the tribe from extinction. Television actor Ken Olin made his directorial debut with this family fable. ~ Michael Betzold, Rovi

In this Christmas episode, Magnum is hired by five wide-eyed schoolgirls to locate their teacher, Linda Booton (Katherine Cannon). Conventional wisdom is that Linda has run off with her boyfriend, but the girls insists that the lady was kidnapped. As Magnum chases down a variety of false leads, it becomes obvious (to the viewer, if not the hero) that he has been duped, and that the real crime at hand involves stealing a valuable Gauguin original from the Robin Masters estate! ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

In this third episode of a four-part story, George Jefferson (Sherman Hemsley) starts making secret land investments so that he can remain in Hawaii for the rest of his life. Only one hitch: George still hasn't revealed his plans to wife Louise (Isabel Sanford). Well, actually, there are two hitches: While on a sailing trip around the islands, George and Tom Willis (Franklin Cover) become hopelessly lost. Originally, parts two and three of "The Jeffersons Go to Hawaii" were telecast in a single one-hour slot; since that time, the two episodes have been divided into separate half-hour segments for syndication. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
