Directed by Christo Honore, 17 fois Cecile Cassard stars Beatrice Dalle as Cecile, who is having a terrible time getting over the accidental death of her husband, Thierry (Jerome Kircher). Hoping to find solace, Cecile drives to Toulouse and rents a room in a seamy hotel. Within days, Cecile has succeeded in attracting a bevy of gay men and sexually-charged young boys. Though they succeed in offering Cecile some much needed companionship, it isn't until she meets Matthieu (Romain Duris), who offers to father her child, that she believes herself to have found a second soulmate.

Christopher Loizillon's Ma Camera et Moi (My Camera and Me) is the story of Max (Zinedine Soualem), a young man obsessed with videotaping life. Adopted and later ignored by parents who eventually conceived a biological child of their own, Max becomes preoccupied with videotaping everything after being given his first camera by an uncle. A hose fire only strengthens this need. Now in his mid-twenties, Max has fallen in love with Lucie (Julie Gayet), a blind woman who needs to feel life as much as Max needs to look at it. After fatally shooting a stalker, Parisian bar-maid Lea must live the life of the title reptile. At the time of the killing she was living with Francis, a much older American ex-con. After committing the murder, the fleeing and frightened Lea is saved by Paris paper boys Jean and Luc. Later she tells her sad story to hard-drinking Moskowitz, a middle-aged cop who secretly desires her. His unrequited love leads to tragedy. Using a minimalist setting, this slice-of-life film depicts the routine life of 20-year old Raoul. The unambitious fellow is supposed to be doing research for his thesis "The Color White in Painting." When not avoiding his work, Raoul can be found ogling women. Though he occasionally follows them, he is too shy to speak to them. Raoul wants to be kissed. The brief but eventful life of actor and martial arts trailblazer Bruce Lee is portrayed in this drama, based on a biography written by his widow Linda Lee Caldwell. Lee is introduced to the study of martial arts as a child living in Hong Kong by his father (Ric Young); the father dreamed that a demonic armored dragon would take his son from him, and wanted young Bruce to be able to protect himself. Bruce continues his training as he grows to adulthood, and after the cocky teenaged Lee (Jason Scott Lee, no relation to Bruce) seriously injures a prominent British citizen while fighting a gang of troublemakers at a dance, he's sent to San Francisco. While working as a dishwasher, Bruce begins to study philosophy, and in time develops a personal martial arts discipline, Jeet Kune-Do, which blends Kung Fu fighting techniques with lessons gained from his philosophical research. Bruce decides to open a martial arts academy on the advice of his fiancée Linda (Lauren Holly); Linda and Bruce encounter resistance as a mixed-race couple, especially from Linda's mother Vivian (Michael Learned), and Bruce earns the enmity of traditional Chinese martial arts experts for his new style. But after a strong showing in several public tournaments, Bruce's fighting skill and charisma attracts the attention of TV producer Bill Krieger (Robert Wagner). Bruce is cast as Kato, the karate-trained sidekick on the series The Green Hornet, and while the show is short-lived in America, it's a huge success in Asia, leading to a series of films based around Bruce's remarkable fighting skills. Sadly, shortly before the release of the film that would make him a major screen star in the United States, Enter The Dragon, a mysterious brain disorder sends Lee into a coma that soon kills him. In a tragedy with eerie timing, Bruce Lee's real-life son Brandon Lee died shortly before this film was released, the result of an accidental shooting while completing the picture The Crow. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
