New Line Cinema founder Robert Shaye's directorial debut, the family-friendly science-fiction tale The Last Mimzy is an adaptation of a short story by Lewis Padgett. The story concerns a young brother and sister, Noah and Emma Wilder (Chris O'Neil and Rhiannon Leigh Wryn), who discover a strange box of artifacts one day while vacationing at the family's summer cottage. When the objects in the box begin to act in strange and mysterious ways, the pair decides to hide it from their mother (Joely Richardson) and workaholic father (Timothy Hutton). When Noah begins to display a previously unknown flair for advanced scientific concepts, the boy's teacher (Rainn Wilson) takes an interest in him. The two youngsters soon become the object of much interest from the government after their new discovery causes a large blackout. Eventually, the duo discovers that they are responsible for helping save the future of humankind, and Emma's precious stuffed rabbit might be something much more than it appears to be. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide

This episode marks the final regular ER appearances of Eriq La Salle and Michael Michele. After resorting to desperate measures to retain custody of his son, Reese (Matthew Watkins), Peter Benton (La Salle) realizes that he must make a choice between the boy and his overloaded ER schedule. He opts to take a less demanding job at a clinic in the Chicago suburbs, where his current love, Cleo Finch (Michele), is already working. A pre-Sex and the City Kristen Davis stars in this made-for-TV thriller as waitress Babette Watson, who has the uneviable talent of being able to "envision" murders before the happen. Naturally, no one believes Babette when she tells about her sixth-sense powers--and then the bodies start piling up in town. Police detective Max Seagle (Matthew Settle) approaches Babette and asks her to help him trap the serial killer responsible for the carnage. As the days wear on, Max and Babette grow quite fond of one another, much to the disgust of her religious-zealot mother Yvette (Ellen Burstyn). But the wrath of her mom is the last thing on Babette's mind when the maniacal killer catches up with her! This sophomoric comedy, shot on a $40,000 budget, was the USC thesis project for writer/director Dan Mirvish. Simon has just returned to his Nebraska family after spending a year seeking spiritual enlightenment in Nepal and other exotic countries. He left to escape his weird family, but now he finds himself back where he began; he is having some trouble adjusting. But for a handful of Buddhist prayer stones given to him by monks, Simon is flat broke. It is his former girlfriend Gina who tells him that the stones are emeralds. Simon's readjustment is hindered by a gang of Colombian crooks, a gang of kickboxers, and a TV news team who are all looking for those stones. The film's climax takes place at "Carhenge," an imitation of Stonehenge made out of cars. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
