The NBC cop drama Raines starred Jeff Goldblum as the title character, eccentric LAPD homicide detective Michael Raines. Haunted by the death of his former partner Charlie Lincoln (Malik Yoba, Raines found himself in frequent contact and conversation with Raines' ghost (or so he thought). These spectral visitations segued neatly into Raines' peculiar talent: the ability to "talk" to the spirits of the victims whose murders he was investigating. The detective's visions of these victims were determined by the amount of information he had on hand; thus, the ghosts were constantly "morphing" before his eyes as he uncovered additional clues. For example, upon learning that a recent victim was a prostitute, Raines began envisioning the dead woman--whom had previously appeared before him in the form of a virginal girl-next-door--with more garish makeup and an expanded bustline! Although Raines' modus operandi was, to say the least, unorthodox, he invariably got results, and the ghosts that haunted him invariably vanished (and stopped annoying him) once the case was solved. Featured in the cast was Matt Craven as Raines' exasperated superior Capt. Daniel Lewis, Linda Park as Raines' overworked new partner Michelle Lance, Dov Davidoff as antagonistic collegue Remi Boyer, Nicole Sullivan as sarcastic-but-supportive civilian coworker Carolyn Crumley, and Madeleine Stowe as Raines' sympathetic-but- skeptical psychiatrist Dr. Samantha Kohl. "Replacements," the fourth installment of HBO's docudrama miniseries, Band of Brothers, focuses on the new members of Easy Company who arrive as the unit becomes involved in the ill-fated Operation Market Garden. Some of the old-timers who jumped into Normandy with Easy are more accepting than others. Lieutenant Buck Compton (Neal McDonough) and company impressionist George Luz (Rick Gomez) are friendly enough, but hustle one of the recruits for his cigarettes in a dart game. Roy Cobb (Craig Heaney) loudly objects to one of the new guys wearing a company-wide presidential citation on his uniform, because it was given for the company's involvement in the Normandy invasion, and the replacements weren't there. Cobb, however, was hit in the plane and did not make the jump into Normandy himself. Sergeant Denver "Bull" Randleman (Michael Cudlitz) earns the respect of the new privates under his command with his quiet proficiency. The company parachutes into Holland in a massive drop. Their mission is to liberate some Dutch towns so British tank units can pass through into Germany. They expect little German firepower at first, but get less than that in the town of Eindhoven. Instead, a joyous crowd greets them, including women who throw themselves at the soldiers, and members of the Dutch resistance. "They all speak English; they all love us," notes Private Webster (Eion Bailey), one of the replacements, "What a fantastic country." But the next day, in a nearby town, they meet an unexpectedly strong force of German tank and infantry units, and after taking several casualties, they're forced to retreat. Sergeant Randleman is lost in the chaos and has to spend a harrowing night on his own, hiding from the Germans, while a few soldiers who fight under him contemplate a perilous rescue mission. ~ Josh Ralske, Rovi

Robert Redford stars in this action drama as General Irwin, a respected three-star tactician whose career ends in disgrace when he's court-martialed and sent to The Castle, a maximum security military prison. Irwin quickly butts heads with the facility's autocratic warden, Colonel Winter (James Gandolfini), who runs his command with an iron fist, even killing prisoners when he deems it necessary. Irwin rallies his fellow convicts into a rag-tag army and leads them in a revolt against Winter, an action that the warden is ready to repel by violent means. A natural disaster breeds man-made treachery in this suspense thriller. Severe flooding threatens an Indiana town after a massive rainstorm taxes dams to the breaking point. As part of an emergency evacuation effort, armored car driver Tom (Christian Slater) and his uncle Charlie (Edward Asner) are recruited to collect cash from the town's banks and drive it to safety. However, a gang of thieves led by Jim (Morgan Freeman) plan to lay siege to the truck and steal the $3 million on board. After Jim attempts to ambush the truck, Tom hides the cash and reports the attempted theft to the local sheriff (Randy Quaid). However, the sheriff's lack of honesty soon becomes apparent; he puts Tom in a lockup and sets out to take the money for himself. As the flood waters rise, Tom has to escape from jail if he is to save both the townspeople's savings and his own life.
