This documentary from filmmaker James Spione takes a look back at the military service of U.S. Army Specialist Ethan McCord, who rescued two surviving children from the carnage of a July 2007 incident during which U.S. attack helicopters contributed to the deaths of two Reuters journalists and a number of civilians. The infantryman struggled with PTSD following the events he witnessed during the Iraq War, and eventually became a key figure in the community of PTSD sufferers whose experiences left them with a much different perspective regarding the American involvement in the Middle East than what they began with. ~ Tracie Cooper, Rovi

Filmmaker James Spione simultaneously demystifies and pays tribute to a dying way of life with this documentary concerning his family's hundred year old farm. Located in Richfield Springs, New York and situated on land that has been in the family for over 150 years, the Ames family dairy farm has been handed down to five generations of sons. The current proprietor, Langdon Ames, has been operating the farm since his early twenties. Now in his seventies and looking to retire, Langdon must face the harsh reality that none of his descendents are willing to take over the farm - a bitter fact that the filmmaker credits to such contributing factors as globalization, the rising corporatism of agriculture, and the shrinking sense of community in small-town America. As Ames ponders the prospect of selling the farm that has been the epicenter of family life for generations, what emerges is an affecting snapshot of an oft misunderstood, and distinctly American institution. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

A young white man living in rural upstate New York tries to emulate the African-American culture he adores in this melodrama. Recent high school graduate Seth Carlson secretly dreams of being an art student in Manhattan. Because his father refuses financial aid he cannot and so ends up waiting tables in a small restaurant. In lieu of actually becoming an artist, Seth opts to affect their mannerisms, especially those of African American artists. He even dresses and speaks as they do. One night, as he is closing the restaurant, he is held up by an escaped convict, Knowledge Johnson. The convict is seriously wounded and passes out before he can escape. He is black and Seth, decides to help him by dragging him to an empty shed and nursing him to health. Knowledge is at first wary of Seth's attention. He is also appalled by Seth's obsession. But gradually the two become grudging friends. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
