In this espionage film, set just before the Germans invaded France, a chemist in Paris moonlights as a Soviet spy. To escape the Nazi invaders, the chemist and his wife steal government money and try to escape to South America. En route, their ship stops in Trinidad where they two cannot pass unless they fork over all of the money. Suddenly 24 years have passed and the man who obstructed them is still working as a British agent. He is investigating a formula that has leaked through to the enemy. The Man Who Wouldn't Talk was coproduced by husband-and-wife Herbert Wilcox and Anna Neagle, with Ms. Neagle filling the role of Queen's Council representative Mary Randall. The title character is American scientist Frank Smith, played by Anthony Quayle, who is honeymooning in London with his new bride Eve Trent (Zsa Zsa Gabor). What the authorities don't know is that Frank and Eve are secret agents, bound and determined to pick up germ-warfare information from Hungarian scientist Horvad (Leonard Sachs). By prearranged agreeement, Smith will relay this information, and the purpose of his mission, to one man and one man only. His self-enforced silence proves to be a severe handicap when Eve is murdered and Smith is unable to provide an alibi for himself. In this drama, a man journeys to the posh British estate of a friend for a weekend soiree. There he learns that the real purpose of the party is to provide the host the opportunity to steal the jewels of his guests. To thwart the plan, the man and the host's adopted step-daughter team up. Unfortunately she winds up getting locked in the room where the jewels were begin stored. The host is attempting to beat a hasty retreat with the jewels but is stopped by an enterprising butler who throws a switch as his boss is attempting to scale the estate fence. Of interest is the fact that Blue Scar was written and directed by a woman, documentary filmmaker Jill Craigie.
