Joseph Madmony and David Ofek's drama Melanoma, My Love stars Sharon Zuckerman as Noga, a woman who early in the film discovers a cancerous growth on her body. Her less than ideal husband (Yigal Adika) changes his ways, becoming remarkably supportive of his wife's desires during her final days, but for a long time shields her from the truth about her condition. The filmmakers based the story in part on the experiences of Adika, whose wife died from cancer not long before work on the script began. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide

Quite a bit can happen over the course of twenty-four hours, as evidenced in this film concerning an honorable Tel Aviv police detective who finds himself suddenly colored as a criminal just as he prepares to put away a notorious drug dealer and pimp. If police detective Amir Samo could end the day by putting away dope-dealing pimp Tziki, he may finally find the redemption that he's been searching for all these years. And Tziki's incarceration should have been a sure deal, too, though just as the case is set to be closed Samo receives some devastating news: two of Tziki's girls have just filed a sexual harassment claim against Samo, and as a result the detective is placed on an immediate leave of absence. Subsequently shunned by his superiors and smeared in the press, Samo becomes the laughing stock of the criminal underworld. The only place where Samo feels safe anymore is his neighborhood pub, though on this day not even elegiac barmaid Michal seems able to muster much sympathy for the disgraced detective. Michal has just dumped her boyfriend, a filmmaker who is currently working on a film based on the couple's experiences together. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Love transcends the laws of time in director Amnon Rubenstein's romantic drama tracing the passion of two sets of lovers separated by 500 years. As a pair of modern-day lovers struggles to maintain their bond against those who would separate them, the fourteenth-century romance between a devoted Christian soldier and a young Jewish girl puts the lives of both in great danger as the grip of the Spanish Inquisition tightens in their region. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
The third entry in the ultra-macho Rambo action movie series finds muscle-bound warrior John Rambo (co-writer and star Sylvester Stallone) refusing a request from his former Vietnam superior, Green Beret Colonel Trautman (Richard Crenna). Trautman is to lead a mission to aid the mujahedeen rebels fighting the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, but the Buddhist Rambo turns his friend down. When the mission goes awry and Trautman is subsequently captured and tortured within a prison fortress, Rambo launches a rescue effort of his own, armed with his trademark bow and exploding arrows. Along the way, he allies himself with the freedom fighters and runs afoul of the villainous Russian commander Zaysen (Marc de Jonge). At the time of its release, Rambo III -- released in the same month in 1988 that Russian troops began withdrawing from Afghanistan -- was the most expensive film ever made, at 63 million dollars. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide
