A young Lakota Sioux, adopted by a wealthy Jewish couple in Beverly Hills, gets in touch with his cultural roots and solves a mystery in this thriller. Because of his upbringing, Jesse Rainfeather Goldman knows almost nothing of Native American traditions. He is doing his internship when he suddenly receives an amulet from the Lakota reservation in Sioux City. It is from his real mother. Jesse's curiosity is piqued and he immediately travels to his birthplace to learn why she sent it. Unfortunately, by the time he arrives, his mother's body is discovered in the smoldering wreckage of her home. She was shot before she was burned. Jesse's investigation into her death is not welcomed by the local captain of police and his assistant. He is almost beaten to death, but is saved by his grandfather, a shaman, and a Lakota woman. A cynical gambler reluctantly comes to the aid of a mysterious beauty in this interpolation of Casablanca and the real-life Cuban revolution. Big-stakes American gambler Jack Weil (Robert Redford) is comfortable in the anything-goes Havana of 1958. But with Fidel Castro out in the wilderness broadcasting revolutionary messages, it seems the good times may be on the way out. On a boat back to the island nation from the U.S. mainland, Weil agrees to help beautiful Bobby Duran (Lena Olin) smuggle in some contraband by trading vehicles with her on their way through the checkpoint. He's amused to discover not jewelry, but radio transmitters squirreled away in her car. Eventually, he learns that she's the European wife of monied Cuban communist Arturo Duran (Raul Julia), who believes his class and status will protect him from the ruling party. When that assumption turns out to be false, Jack finds himself sucked in by the plight of the suddenly widowed Bobby, who remains committed to her dangerous ideals. Risking his cushy lifestyle to protect Bobby from the coming tumult -- and from herself -- Jack must grapple with the dictates of his newfound conscience. With a supporting cast that includes Alan Arkin and Tomas Milian, Havana reunited director Sydney Pollack with Redford and David Rayfiel, star and co-screenwriter of The Way We Were. Jessica (Angela Lansbury) serves as narrator for tonight's story, which centers around working-class private eye Frank Albertson (a pre-Politically Incorrect Bill Maher) and his wife Sunny (Faith Ford). After years of sponging off Frank and Sunny, Frank's uncle Charlie (John Finnegan) suddenly inherits a fortune--and just as suddenly disappears. Later on, a mangled corpse is found on a local railroad track, whereupon Frank attempts to claim the body as that of Uncle Charlie.. "Dead" is right: It turns out that Melissa is a virtual mystery novel all in herself, as proven when she inveigles a moonstruck cub reporter into helping her tamper with some evidence at a murder scene. Desperado: Avalanche at Devil's Ridge was the third in a sporadic series of TV westerns centered around fugitive do-gooder Duell McCall (Alex McArthur). Falsely accused of a whole litany of crimes, McCall is forced to drift from town to town, spreading a little goodwill wherever he happens to land. In this entry, McCall is about to be hanged. He is freed on one condition: That he head up a posse to rescue the kidnapped daughter of land baron Rod Steiger. Alice Adair plays the hostage (who isn't precisely what she appears to be), and Lise Cutter appears as McCall's romantic interest. Seven months after the 1989 premiere of Desperado: Avalanche at Devil's Ridge, there would be a fourth and final chapter in the saga of Duell McCall: Desperado: Badlands Justice. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

This time around, McCall finds himself in the middle of a deadly feud in a small mining town. As the only honest man in the territory (comparatively speaking), our hero is ripe for a double-cross. Framed for the murder of Sheriff Whaley (Robert Vaughn), McCall is forced to wander the wild frontier in search of the one man who can clear him. Written by Elmore Leonard, this sagebrush Fugitive first aired April 27, 1987. Season One of Perfect Strangers begins not long after aspiring photographer Larry Appleton (Mark Linn-Baker) has moved out of his family's house (bidding his eight siblings goodbye in the process) and into his own apartment in Chicago. Any hopes of enjoying the life of a carefree bachelor are dashed when Larry's distant cousin Balki Bartokomous (Bronson Pinchot), a sheepherder from the faraway island of Mypos, shows up at Larry's doorstep and promptly moves in with him. The wide-eyed, effusive, easily impressed Balki provides hilarious contrast to the uptight, well-organized Larry, especially when both men dip into the dating pool, and when Balki insists upon honoring one of the many, invariably bizarre Myposian customs. During this season, Larry works at the Ritz Discount Shop, taking orders from his nasty, avaricious boss "Twinkie" (Ernie Sabella) and occasionally from Twinkie's equally abrasive wife Edwina (Belita Moreno). Balki doesn't hold down a regular job, but instead attends night school in hopes of becoming an American citizen. Occasionally, Larry goes out with his upstairs neighbor, nurse Susan Campbell (Lise Cutter).
