In this western a trio of prospectors bury their booty to keep the Apaches away. As one of the three rides away, another of them shoots him in the back. The killer allows only the hero to live as he is the only one who really knows where the gold is located. Later the Apaches attack and force the men to leave their horses. When the dead man's horse gallops by, the killer shoots the hero and rides away on his horse. Unbeknownst to him, he did not kill this man, who is later found and healed by a Chinese woman who hopes that when he is healed, he will take her to San Francisco. Meanwhile the killer has conned a bounty hunter into believing the hero killed the second partner. These two agree to split the reward and take off after the third man. The bounty hunter finds him with the girl while the killer rides off to get the gold. The hero man then gets locked in jail and the young woman must take the other to the burial site. Fortunately, the hero escapes and takes off to save her. At the burial site, the bounty hunter accidentally detonates some dynamite and blows the gold to smithereens causing the killer to truly lose his mind and attack the girl. Fortunately he is shot down by the hero who arrives at the crucial moment and then rides away with the girl. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

The little-known British melodrama Wink of an Eye was given a brief American distribution by United Artists. Jonathan Kidd plays Atterbury, the apparently mild-mannered owner of a small perfume laboratory. No one suspects that Atterbury plans to murder his harridan of a wife (Jaclynne Greene) and run off to South America with his lovely lab assistant Myrna Duchane (Doris Dowling). Though the audience sees nothing, it is implied that Mrs. Atterbury has been chopped up in little peaces and stored in her husband's freezer. After leading us up the garden path for seven reels, Wink of an Eye offers an amusing twist just before the end. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

A Day Of Fury stars Jock Mahoney as town marshal Alan Burnett, whose life is saved by a stranger he meets on the trail. His rescuer turns out to be Jagade (Dale Robertson), a gunslinger just returned after years away, who finds when he gets into town that he can't abide the peace that has been settled between "his" people (i.e. the saloon-keepers, gamblers, etc.) and the righteous, "respectable" folk. Jagade stirs up trouble by persuading the saloon owners to open on Sunday, which they'd voluntarily stopped doing years ago. Suddenly, the peace that had settled over the town is broken, and gambling and other vices that had been in check rise anew, drawing in many of the respectable townsmen and women in the process -- some of the men can't resist the lure of a good high-stakes poker game or a pretty woman, and even the spinster schoolteacher finds herself drawn to Jagade's dark charisma. An escalating cycle of vice and violence unfolds in barely 24 hours; Burnett won't back Jagade down, partly because the man has broken no laws and also partly due to his gratitude to the gunman for saving his life. None of the townspeople can comprehend his inaction, however, and this soon jeopardizes not only his job as marshal and his safety, but also the well-being of his fiancée, Sharmon Fulton (Mara Corday), who was a saloon girl before she was brought out of that life and given a home with a respectable family. Soon Jagade loses control of what he's started, and the town begins to destroy itself in a cycle of guilt, anger, betrayal, murder, suicide, and lynch law.
