Brett Cullen Movies
A native of Houston, TX, Brett Cullen graduated from that city's university, also finding time to compete in fencing and contribute to the Houston Shakespeare Festival. Opting for a shot at stardom over continuing his theater studies, Cullen landed a role on The Chisholms as his first breakthrough. He achieved much attention as Bob Cleary in the highly successful miniseries The Thorn Birds, which led to a stint on the nighttime soap Falcon Crest. He continued to work steadily on both the stage and the screen including production of Guys and Dolls, The Little Foxes, and numerous Shakespearean plays. His film credits include Courage Under Fire and Apollo 13, a role that led to him joining the cast of the Tom Hanks-produced television spectacle From the Earth to the Moon. Cullen has had recurring roles on such respected programs as Ugly Betty, Friday Night Lights, The West Wing, and Lost. In 2007, he starred opposite Uma Thurman in the drama In Bloom. That same year, Cullen starred in the pilot for the television program Life Is Wild, but he was replaced when the show went to series by D.W. Moffett. He had a major role in 2008's The Life Before Her Eyes as well as Brothel. Two years later he played the dad of the troubled lead singer of The Runaways, and he followed that up with a part in the teen comedy Monte Carlo. An attorney fighting a corrupt system is battling his own demons as he tries to do right by others in this drama based on a true story. Vicky (Vinessa Shaw) is a nurse at a hospital in Houston whose life takes an unexpected turn when she accidentally jabs herself with a used syringe. The needle had been used on a patient who was HIV-positive, and Vicky contracts AIDS. Jeffrey Danfort (Marshall Bell) is a close friend of Vicky's who designs medical equipment, and he's inspired to invent a syringe with a safety point that would prevent such mistakes. However, as Jeffrey tries to sell his new invention to pharmaceutical manufacturers, he discovers how much they're governed by corruption and insider dealings. Jeffrey decides to take on the dishonest firms with a lawsuit, and he secures the services of Weiss & Danziger, a small law office eager for any kind of business. But while Paul Danziger (Mark Kassen) needs the work to support his wife and children, Mike Weiss (Chris Evans) is more concerned with supporting his cocaine habit, which is spiraling out of control. A handful of teenagers find the life they've known is slipping away from them in this independent coming-of-age drama. Ritchie's job gives him a chance to hang out with his friends and get paid for it, but fewer kids are interested in roller skating, and Ritchie's life increasingly feels like an extension of high school as he parties his evenings away without moving forward. Another Americanization of a popular British TV series, Life is Wild was inspired by the BBC comedy-drama Wild at Heart. D.W. Moffett headed the cast as New York-based veterinarian Danny Clarke, who on little more than a whim relocated himself, his second wife Jo (Stephanie Niznik) and their four children (two from his first marriage, two from hers) to a new home in South Africa. The Clarke family reconnoitered at the Blue Antelope, a game preserve and safari lodge run by Danny's crusty father-in-law Art (David Butler) (his daughter was Danny's late first wife). Though the kids thought that Danny was crazy, wife Jo did her best to be supportive, using her skills as a lawyer to help rebuild the Blue Antelope into a thriving concern, despite stiff competition from a newer, more tourist-friendly lodge owned by Art's rival Colin Banks (Jeremy Sheffield). The rest of the characters included Danny's level-headed daughter Katie (Leah Pipes) and his frisky son Chase (K'sun Ray; Jo's rebellious son Jesse (Andrew St. John) and sports-nut daughter Mia (Mary Matilyn); Colin Banks' twin children, handsome-hunk son Oliver (Jeremy Sheffield) and drop-dead-gorgeous daughter Emily (Tiffany Mulheron); Tumelo (Atandwa Kani), a local teenager who aspired to become a veterinarian himself; and singer-bartender Mbali (Precious Kofi), for whose attentions Jesse and Tumelo carried on a friendly competition. Flight 323 has crashed in the Colorado Rockies, killing everyone on board. Was the disaster the result of carelessness, incompetence, malfunctioning equipment--or terrorism? To answer these question, a team of experts from the National Transportation Safety Board, headed by Al Cummings (Mandy Patinkin) painstakingly recreate the events leading up to the tragedy, and also trace the movements of the various passengers in the last hours on earth. As the impatient media and the victims' grieving families demand answers immediately, Cummings and company do their best to remain calm and detached while using a flight simulator and other such devices to try out innumerable scenarios, in the manner of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (and before that, Rashomon). Adversaries become wary allies in this free-wheeling action comedy. Hank Rafferty (Steve Zahn) is a Los Angeles Police Department officer who finds himself out of a job after he becomes involved in a violent altercation with police academy flunk-out Earl Montgomery (Martin Lawrence), escalating into a media event which brings the LAPD a wealth of bad publicity. Unable to find work, Hank finally takes a job as a "rent-a-cop" with a private security firm -- and discovers to his annoyance that his new partner is Earl. While neither of them are thrilled to be working together on the lowest strata of the law enforcement community, the two find themselves dealing with bigger crime than they expected when they stumble across evidence of a elite smuggling network operated by criminal mastermind Nash (Eric Roberts). Hank and Earl want to put Nash out of business, and they try without success to persuade the police of the importance of the case. But before long they discover it's not just Nash's men who are after them, but two high-ranking LAPD officials, Lt. Washington (Bill Duke) and Detective McDuff (Colm Feore). Previously portrayed in films and on TV by the likes of Bonita Granville, Janet Julian, Pamela Sue Martin, and Tracy Ryan, author Carolyn Keene's intrepid, teenaged sleuth Nancy Drew is again brought to life in the person of Maggie Lawson. The 1987 National Football League players' strike inspired this sports-themed comedy. The Washington Sentinels are one of the strongest teams in pro football -- until contract negotiations break down and the Sentinels go on strike. Determined to play the team's schedule, owner Edward O'Neil (Jack Warden) recruits a ragtag band of scab players, to be headed up and whipped into shape by the retired veteran coach Jimmy McGinty (Gene Hackman). At the top of the recruitment list is quarterback Shane Falco (Keanu Reeves), a promising athlete until a catastrophic defeat in the Sugar Bowl dashed his confidence. Joining Falco on the team are Clifford Franklin (Orlando Jones), a receiver who can't catch the ball; Nigel Gruff (Rhys Ifans), a chain-smoking Welsh soccer player; Bateman (Jon Favreau), a former cop with anger management problems; Fumiko (Ace Yonamine), a sumo wrestler new to football; and Wilkinson (Michael Jace), a convict on parole to the Sentinels. This TV sitcom apparently was inspired by the low concept of Martha Stewart meets Green Acres, since the central character is country-living TV host Sara Campbell (Judith Light) who feels it's deceptive to do a show about life in the country as part of the population in New York City. So she decides to relocate her life, her huge business empire, and her television show to a farm in upstate New York. As she explains to her daughter Frederica (Ashlee Levitch), "You don't need therapy in the country. If you get tense, you just go and milk something!" Accompanying Sara on this rural sojourn are her complaining mother Muriel (Florence Stanley) and her producer Greg (James Patrick Stuart). Husky farm foreman Lucas (Brett Cullen) offers a contrast to the citified types, including Fran Drescher and Rachel Chagall who guest as cameos in the first episode, re-creating their roles on The Nanny.
