Working in concert with a death-obsessed alchemist (John Kassir), Zankou (Oded Fehr) begins savagely attacking innocents in order to render the Charmed Ones vulnerable. Zankou's latest victim is Phoebe's fellow grad student Tim (Colin Egglesfield), who drops dead at her feet. Convinced that Tim's demise is entirely her fault (she has in fact been "accused" by the dead man's spirit), Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) asks Daryl (Dorian Gregory) to investigate the phenomenon -- while Zankou mounts his next and even more horrible offense. Out of boredom, one of the magic school students conjures up the spirits of Lady Godiva (Kristen Miller) and her age-old nemesis, Lord Dyson (Maury Sterling). If you know your English history, you'll know that Lady G. rode naked through the streets of Coventry to protest Dyson's despotism. Now on the loose in the present, Dyson intends to kill Godiva before she can make the ride that will destroy his power -- and thus the Charmed Ones must come to the rescue of the Unclad One. In another affair of the heart, Jason (Eric Dane) goes ballistic and breaks up with Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) when he learns the truth about the Charmed Ones. Also, Piper (Alyssa Milano) learns from Chris (Drew Fuller) that she must vanquish the Swarm Demons, the last remaining threat to her son, Wyatt -- but this will prove a difficult if not insurmountable task, since killing one Swarm Demon instantly creates two more in its place! ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Wyatt, the son of "Charmed One" Piper (Holly Marie Combs) and Whitelighter Leo (Brian Krause), is kidnapped by the Cleaners, emissaries of a neutral power force that "cleans up" the mess caused when mortals are accidentally exposed to magic. In their efforts to erase Wyatt's existence, the Cleaners also wipe out the short-term memories of Piper and her sisters, Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) and Paige (Rose McGowan). Elsewhere, Phoebe continues to have problems with her new empath powers; Paige doesn't know what she's unleashing when she uses magic as a defense mechanism against sexual harassment at the workplace; and Leo sends novice Whitelighter Chris (Drew Fuller) on an intriguing new assignment. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Henry Gibson guest stars as the Sandman (yes, that Sandman!), who asks Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) to protect him from a Tracer Demon (Darin Heames) bent upon destroying all the dreams in the world. In the process of helping the Sandman, Phoebe is galvanized when one of her worst nightmares suddenly springs to life. Seeing this, the demon decides to use a terrifying array of nightmares (including the requisite chainsaw-wielding maniacs and scary clowns!) to destroy the Charmed Ones. Things take a Freudian turn when the girls realize that the only way to save themselves is to figure out the real meanings of their horrible dreams. ~ All Movie Guide

Having escaped from a magic mirror stored in a safe haven for fairy-tale artifacts, an evil witch (Natalija Nogulich) schemes to vanquish her present "good witch" competition -- namely, Piper (Holly Marie Combs), Phoebe (Alyssa Milano), and Paige (Rose McGowan). The witch utilizes the other fairy-tale props in a twisted, perverted fashion, exposing the Charmed Ones to such perils as the Big Bad Wolf and the inevitable poisoned apple. In other developments, Piper receives angelic advice about her unborn child, and Phoebe faces the possibility of unemployment when her newspaper is put up for sale. Danny Woodburn, the diminutive Mickey Abbott of Seinfeld fame, is typecast in this episode as one of the Seven Dwarfs. ~ All Movie Guide

Most people are afraid of the "boogeyman"; some good witches like Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) are terrified of the "Woogeyman." Prue (Shannen Doherty) and Piper (Holly Marie Combs) scoff at Phoebe's trepidations, but it's no laughing matter when an earthquake release a genuine Woogyman in the form of a shadow demon -- who immediately takes control of Phoebe's mind and converts her to "badness." All of this puts quite a damper on Phoebe's upcoming party in honor of a famed architectural expert. Reunited in their ancestral San Francisco mansion, the Halliwell sisters -- Prue (Shannen Doherty), Piper (Holly Marie Combs), and Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) -- are apprised of their family's secret: all three of them are witches, endowed with remarkable individual powers. This discovery comes about when the girls come across the "Book of Shadows," an ancient tome chock-full of incantations. Repeating the words in the book, Phoebe discovers her power to see into the future, Prue is made aware of her telekinetic skills, and Piper comes to realize that she has the ability to make time stand still. Before this debut episode of Charmed has run its course, the trio has also come to terms with their destiny: to use their powers to fight on the side of good against evil -- evil in this case personified by an extremely unpleasant warlock. (This was actually the series' second pilot episode: the first, featuring different actresses as two of the three Halliwell sisters, never aired.) ~ All Movie Guide

Season four of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys begins with an Olympian spin on a familiar fairy tale. Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) and "King of Thieves" Autolycus (Bruce Campbell) climb up a familiar-looking beanstalk into the clouds, all for the objective of rescuing Leanna (Kerry Gallagher), caretaker of the three golden Harpie eggs. Leanna has been kidnapped by a surly giant named Typhoon (Glenn Shadix), but what follows isn't precisely according to the Storybooks -- especially when the eggs hatch yielding something slightly more terrifying than golden chickens. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
