The murderous spirit of Jason Vorhees lives on in this horror sequel, although the plot hinges on the mystery of whether the killer's body actually survives. Opening with a nightmare prologue in which Corey Feldman reprises his role as Tommy Jarvis, the boy who killed Jason in the previous installment, the film jumps forward several years to when a teenaged Tommy (John Shepherd), haunted by visions of Jason returning to life, moves into a group home for mentally disturbed kids. Almost as soon as he arrives, Tommy witnesses the death of Joey (Dominick Brascia), an overweight, annoying boy who is hacked to death by psychopathic patient Vic (Mark Venturini). Although Vic ends up safely behind bars, other bodies begin to turn up -- more than 20 by the end of the film. Tommy's own violent streak, displayed when he lashes out at a fellow resident, makes him a suspect; he even doubts his own sanity. But as the bloodshed continues, Tommy finds himself allied with Reggie (Shavar Ross), the grandson of one of the home's employees, in a desperate bid to survive the carnage and find out who the killer behind the hockey mask really is. The producers of the Friday the 13th series actually planned to end it with Friday the 13th -- The Final Chapter, but the box-office success of that film paved the way for the series to continue. ~ Brian J. Long before his tenure on TV's Magnum PI, Roger E. Mosley starred in the blaxploitationer Sweet Jesus, Preacher Man. Mosely plays a streetwise mobster who goes undercover as a ghetto clergyman. This he does at the request of his boss, who wants to get the goods on a rival. "Preacher Man" has a change of heart along the way, but not before whuppin' some butt. The fact that Sweet Jesus, Preacher Man was distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer was overlooked in the otherwise all-inclusive coffee-table volume The MGM Story. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
A model prisoner and a desperate thug become unwilling partners in this low-budget action picture. Weed (Michael Sterns) is patiently waiting out the last six months of a sentence for dealing marijuana when he loses his job in the prison library and is put on a rural work gang. Weed finds himself chained to fellow prisoner Harris (Robert Lott), who is serving life for rape and murder. Angry and violent Harris is determined to escape, and when he attacks a guard, grabs a gun and goes on the run, Weed has little choice but to join him. Weed leads Harris to the home of his girlfriend Ann (Linda York), who gives the escapees a place to stay while they plot their next move. Harris shows his true colors by raping Ann while Weed sneaks into town for supplies, and when the convicts' plan to leave the state goes awry, Weed sends her away while they make their own way. Harris and Weed happen upon the home of an elderly farmer (Ralph Campbell) and his much younger wife (Barbara Mills), but while the bride is looking for a way out of her life in the country, the farmer isn't about to let the bandits take his woman. Noted exploitation kingpin Lee Frost served as writer, director and cinematographer on Chain Gang Women, which despite its title only features two women in its cast. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Can a straight-laced woman find happiness with a scruffy hippie who has a bad habit of getting beaten up? Minnie Moore (Gena Rowlands) was a prom queen in high school but has become disillusioned with life now that she is a divorcée who has just turned 40. Her marriage ended badly, and her current relationship with her boyfriend Jim (John Cassavetes), who is inconveniently married to another woman, is hardly going any better. Jim treats Minnie with little respect, but she tries to calmly soldier on with her work as a curator at a museum. When Jim's wife threatens to commit suicide if he doesn't break off his affair with Minnie, he agrees to stop seeing her. He goes to museum where Minnie works, bringing along his two children to serve as witnesses, and he tells her that they're through. Emotionally shattered by this experience, Minnie blankly and uncomprehendingly accepts a blind date with a loud-mouthed boor named Zelmo Swift (Val Avery), who proposes marriage only an hour after they've met. Angered by her lack of enthusiasm for this proposal, Zelmo angrily follows Minnie to a nearby parking lot, where the attendant, Seymour Moskowitz (Seymour Cassel), comes to her rescue, though he hardly emerges victorious in battle. Shaggy-haired and steadfastly bohemian Seymour has just arrived in Los Angeles from New York City looking to make some changes, and after a few minutes with Minnie, he's convinced that he's met the love of his life. Minnie isn't buying it, but she eventually agrees to go out on a date with him, and before long, these two polar opposites find that they're attracted to each other after all. A typically low-budget labor of love from writer/director/actor John Cassavetes, Minnie and Moskowitz features John's wife Gena Rowlands as Minnie, his mother Katherine Cassavetes as Seymour's mom, his brother-in-law David Rowlands as a minister, and several of his children in a party sequence; John's friend and frequent collaborator Timothy Carey also appears in a small role. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

A US Army Colonel (Cesar Romero) and his wife (Barbara Hale) relate their stories about the all black 10th cavalry unit formed after the Civil War. Eli (Robert Do'Qui) is one the new recruits being trained by two veteran troopers (Rafer Johnson & Isaac Fields). Julie (Janee Michelle) is the young beauty who tries to tame Eli's wild romantic heart. Eli befriends a local Indian chief (Robert Dix), but is unable to save him and the tribe from military cruelties. This X rated jungle adventure finds Hamilton Hornee (Buddy Pantsari) in search of the white goddess. Algona (Deek Sills) is the female leader of a native tribe sought by Hamilton to inherit money from a long lost relative. This sets the stage for erotic action between men and women, and women and women.
