Walter (Kent Andersson) is a retired sailor and former boxer who meets a 13-year-old prostitute and drug addict (Ulrika Hansson) in this symbolic action drama. Moved by her plight, he complains to the local police about the problem of child prostitution and drug dealing in the area. When they do nothing to stop the problem, Walter recruits Carina (Eva Britt Strandberg), a veteran hooker with a heart of gold (or course) to track down the gangleaders who force the young girls into sexual slavery and drug addiction. In a farce that starts out galloping but then stumbles and essentially collapses, a few crooks end up cheating other crooks as the story bobbles along between Sweden and Cuba. First a sleazy used-car salesman cons an innocent hair stylist into buying a wreck of a car. Next, the stylist's crooked brother gets out of prison and decides to fleece the car dealer in turn. The internationally produced The Inside Man was inspired by a true story. In 1981, a Soviet submarine ran aground on the coast of Sweden. The sub was carrying a hush-hush laser search device, which promptly vanished. In this 1984 recreation of the incident, Dennis Hopper is cast as the CIA agent assigned to track down the missing laser. Aided by young assistant Gosta Ekman Jr., Hopper finds himself in a life-and-death struggle with a variety of foreign agents, each with his own agenda. This Disney family adventure, directed by Robert Stevenson in his Jules Verne mode, concern a group of explorers who travel to the Arctic Circle in 1908 to explore the uncharted wastes of the North Pole. Sir Anthony Ross (Donald Sinden), a rich Londoner, organizes an Arctic exploration team in hopes of locating his missing son. Providing expert advice is Prof. John Ivarson (David Hartman), a professor of Nordic history. This English-language film was made in Sweden by American essayist Susan Sontag and includes a French and Swedish cast. There is a similar confusion in the storyline. Four artistic adults (two men and two women) have gone to an island at the same time. They are people who have caused one another considerable pain in the past, and they appear to be prepared to do so again here. One woman, an actress, commits suicide when she is not able to seduce a (male) ballet dancer whom she had traumatized before. The dancer and the (male) theater director may or may not be having an affair. The dancer tries to have sex with an under-age autistic girl. A troubled young woman resists reform and pays the consequences in this drama. The new trouble begins after she is paroled from reform school and is sent to work in the country. She is not interested in working and so violates her parole and returns to Stockholm to hang out with members of her old gang. She begins a series of affairs after her ex-boyfriend rejects her.
