Actor-turned-director Matt Stanton takes the helm for this tale of an inner-city African-American youth who flees to the country after witnessing the murder of a close friend, and subsequently befriends a kindred spirit who helps him to overcome the lingering shadows of small-town racism. Demetrious is a Houston youth who has just seen his best friend gunned down in cold blood. Profoundly shaken by the senseless act of violence, the frightened teen jumps into the first cab he can find, and prepares to go as far away from the city as the cash in his pocket will take him. Dropped of in the outskirts of rural Trublin, Demetrious wanders into town to find that the tall tales of Southern hospitality don't necessarily extend to all races. As the sidelong glances of the closed-minded locals quickly dissolve into scowls, a man named Darring kindly takes the weary youth under his wing. Later, as Demetrious and Darring begin to forge a healing bond that helps one man to overcome his small town demons and the other to move beyond a trauma that has shaken him to the very core, the fragile balance of trust between the newfound friends will be challenged in ways that make them both view their roles in society from new and entirely unique perspectives. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

In this crime thriller, Leslie Steckler (Peter Firth) is an inoffensive, polite and very quiet man. He does, however, have a particular animus against blondes wearing white. In fact, among that small group of women, he is a cold-blooded serial killer, instead of the meek dentist he usually appears to be. He is looking for someone to tell his story to, and when he discovers that the (brunette) writer Ellen Carter (Harriet Robinson) has murdered her husband, he feels that he has found a perfect person. It helps, of course, that her novelistic specialty is serial killers. However, Inspector Taylor (Don Henderson) of Scotland Yard is on Ellen's case, and will soon be on Leslie's. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square was the original title of this British caper film. David Niven does his suave 'n' blase bit as a criminal mastermind planning a giant bank heist. Richard Jordan co-stars as an American ex-con tapped to oversee the operation. Gloria Grahame, in one of her last roles, masticates the scenery as Jordan's rude-and-crude mom.
