After a bad day at work, a man suddenly gets a new job -- as the world's new Heavenly Father -- in this comedy. Bruce Nolan (Jim Carrey) is a television reporter working in Buffalo, NY, who has been growing increasingly dissatisfied with his existence, and after an especially bad day, he flies into a rage and curses God for making his life miserable. To Bruce's great surprise, the Supreme Being Himself (Morgan Freeman) appears, and tries to convince Bruce of the enormity of his task. Bruce, however, isn't buying it, so God gives him a chance to find out what he's up against; God bestows all of his powers on Bruce for a week, to see how he'd handle things. At first, Bruce has a great time bending the world around him to his will, much to the puzzlement of his girlfriend, Grace (Jennifer Aniston), but after six days God stops by to remind Bruce he hasn't done much to make the Earth a better place. Disappointed, God presents Bruce with an ultimatum -- he has one day to improve the world in a concrete way, or God will toss the planet back into the void. Although his marriage to Maris is all but kaput, Niles (David Hyde Pierce) is still too chicken to declare his love for Daphne (Jane Leeves). Just when he has worked up enough courage to ask Daphne for a date, Niles gets cold feet, begging off by claiming to be having dinner at his home with another woman. Pulled over for speeding, Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) is instantly smitten by sexy female traffic cop Maureen Cutler (played by future Malcolm in the Middle co-star Jane Kaczmarek). Following up the episode, Frasier asks Maureen to come to his apartment. She does -- whereupon she develops a strong attraction to Frasier's ex-policeman dad, Martin (John Mahoney). This campy remake of Roger Corman's 1957 drama Sorority Girl was part of a series of made-for-cable adaptations of old American International Pictures titles, prepared by original co-producer Samuel Z. Arkoff. Uli Edel captures just about the right over-the-top theatrics in this period drama, set at the end of the 1950s at a small college campus. Jamie Luner of TV's Profiler and Melrose Place, plays Sabrina, a troubled and sadistic co-ed newly arrived at college, who proceeds to try and dominate the students around her, manipulating the men and tormenting and disrupting the lives of the women. She's not above blackmail and fabricating vicious lies to get what she wants, showing a potentially murderous streak as well. ~ Bruce Eder, Rovi

Saddled with a broken arm, Jessica (Angela Lansbury) hires a temporary typist named Melissa (Lise Cutter) to help her meet a deadline. "Dead" is right: It turns out that Melissa is a virtual mystery novel all in herself, as proven when she inveigles a moonstruck cub reporter into helping her tamper with some evidence at a murder scene. The victim is Melissa's loutish husband (Cliff Potts), whose body is moved to his own lumberyard as an efforts to keep Melissa from being implicated--but things don't quite work out as planned, obliging Jessica to play detective yet once more. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
