The son of actors Sean Connery and Diane Cilento, London-born Jason Connery inaugurated his own film career in 1982 with The Lords of Discipline, which though set in a Southern military academy, was lensed in England. His next film was The Boy Who Had Everything (1983), a title that provided ammunition for those jaundiced critics who assumed that Jason's career was merely a by-product of his parents' fame. In fact, Jason was talented enough to carve out a career without his lofty pedigree, as proven by his swashbuckling star turn in Robin of Sherwood, a well-distributed BBC television series of the late 1980s. Working-class espionage-agent Harry Palmer returns in this spy thriller. The story begins in London after a murder occurs during a demonstration at the North Korean embassy. Palmer, who was supposed to ensure nothing happened, fears repercussions from his higher-ups. They tell him that since the Cold War has ended, he and the senior spies have become redundant and are therefore placed on accelerated retirement. He then receives a mysterious phone call from a person wanting to meet him. They make an arrangement and the rendezvous occurs beside a river. There Palmer is given a plane ticket to St. Petersburg and an envelope stuffed with American $100 bills. He decides to go and, after a chase, ends up with Alexei, a recently released KGB spy. Unlike Palmer, Alexei received generous compensation for his years of devoted service. Palmer's new boss assigns him to find a stolen vial of a virulent, fatal virus, The Red Death, that has been sent to the North Korean embassy in Beijing. All he knows for sure is that the virus is aboard the Trans- Siberian Express. Palmer is assisted by Nikolai, Natasha and an ex-CIA agent. A man scarred by the horrors of war encounters a new low in human brutality in this extreme horror story. Trevor Lloyd (Jason Connery) is a veteran of the Iraq war who has had a falling out with his wife and has decided to head west to start his life over again. While hitch-hiking through Texas, Trevor gets a ride from Parker Hilton (Randy Spelling), who makes him an offer -- if Trevor wants to make some traveling money, he's welcome to work a few days at Hilton's ranch. Trevor eagerly accepts, but when he and a handful of other hitchers arrive at the Hoboken Hollow Ranch, they discovers they've made a horrible mistake. Weldon Broderick (Mark Holton) and his family of bloodthirsty psychopaths run the ranch with Hilton, and rather than pay laborers, they simply kidnap men unlikely to be found missing anytime soon, and work them as hard as they can for as long as they can. When the abuse and torture become too much to bear, Broderick and his cohorts kill the drifters and make jerky from their flesh. As Trevor searches for a way to escape from this living hell, eccentric local businessman J.T. Goldman (Michael Madsen) is trying to persuade Broderick to sell him his land, but unwittingly discovers the horrible secret of his success in ranching. It's young love on the steppes in this romantic fable based on a 1956 story by Chingiz Aitmatov. The movie was filmed on the beautiful Kirghiz steppes. The story reflects the wistful memories of Seit, a N.Y. painter as he reminisces about his youthful, innocent love affair with Jamilia back in the Kirghiz countryside during the 1940's. Jamilia was beautiful and also, the best horseback rider in town. Unfortunately, Seit's older brother marries her in an arranged ceremony. Seit is designated, Jamilia's protector after his brother goes off to war. Nothing comes of it as a dashing, wounded soldier interlopes and she falls for him. Set in the 16th century, this bawdy comedy is erotic without pornographic detail as two women and one man enjoy a wild and lusty relationship. Angela (Laura Antonelli) is widowed and one day, as she gazes out her window, she is stirred by the sight of a dashing blond foreigner (Jason Connery, son of Sean). She eventually sends her ladies' maid to speak to him as a go-between, while the ladies' maid of the married woman next door is on the same errand. It seems the foreigner is more interested in Angela's neighbor but has no compunction about making love to both women. The dashing young man is soon literally dashing from one woman to the next in a mixed-up confusion, not wanting to give himself away as romancing two women instead of one. Two young immigrants find themselves torn violently between traditional ways and the strong desire for independence, in director Vipul Amrutlal Shah's romantic drama Namastey, London. Jasmeet 'Jazz' Singh is an attractive Indian girl living and working in London; she has earned the disdain of her parents by rejecting her cultural heritage and the traditionally-accepted "arranged marriage" of her family's culture. Meanwhile, Jazz's best friend, the Pakistani immigrant Imran Khan (Upen Patel) is kicked out of the house by his parents when he informs them of his decision to move in with a Caucasian girlfriend. Jazz's father grows so desperate to force her into planned nuptials that he carts her off to India, where her path crosses with that of Arjun (Akshay Kumar), a local farmer instantly desperate to marry her. Jazz concocts a clever means of dodging this proposition, but the smitten Arjun refuses to take no for an answer, and follows Jazz back to London.
