In this German action-thriller, Dorn (Marius Muller-Westernhagen) has a stroke of bad luck that gets him involved in the world of drug dealers, with no easy way out. While in his hotel room on Malta, Dorn is trying to figure out how to sell 50,000 copies of a porn magazine he has stashed there, when the police burst in and he just barely makes it out of the window and into the room below. That turns out to be a jump from the frying pan into the fire, because there is a dead man in the room below, and the next thing he knows, Dorn is being chased by the police for murder. Eventually, Dorn gets away from the clutches of the Maltese police force and ends up in Amsterdam with a mountain of cocaine to unload. But then he runs into Cora (Polly Eltes) who advises him to sell the cocaine to a Chinese drug lord. Dorn manages to pull off the sale for a hefty profit, but then events take a turn for the worse one more time, leaving him in another tight spot.

Essentially a wild, slapstick chase comedy, this offering by director Peter F. Bringmann stars Marius Mueller-Westerhagen as Theo, a jinxed con-artist. Theo and his partner Enno (Guido Gagliardi) just went together to buy a truck, and while Theo is answering the call of nature at a rest stop, a thief makes off with the prized truck (and its load of illegal goods). So Theo steals a car and takes off after the thief while Enno hooks up with the young owner of the car, a Swiss college student (Claudia Demarmels) and the two join Theo in his pursuit of the thief. That riotous pursuit bumps them all over Europe and back in a series of nonsensical mishaps. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

The West German The Second Awakening of Christa Klages (Das Zweite Erwachen der Christa Klages) stars Tina Engel in the title role. Unable to pay the rent on the day care center that she operates, Christa steals the money from a bank, then tries to cover up her crime by passing the money off as a church donation. When the priest will have none of this, Christa and her accomplice, Werner (Marius Muller-Westerhagen), go into hiding. Werner is killed in a police ambush, whereupon Christa moves to Lisbon in a vain effort to start her life anew. Broke and dispirited, Christa returns to Germany, where she is promptly arrested, but that is far from the end of her story. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Set in Western Germany's industrial zone of steel mills and coal mines where the Ruhr and Rhine rivers meet, this is a witty, insightful and action-packed tale about Theo (Marius Muller-Westernhagen), a never-say-die petty con man. Theo has a weakness for taking big chances with the last of his money, a penchant that often gets him into trouble. He desperately needs a new truck and has to raise some quick cash. His first idea is to try the horse races -- no luck there. He cons more money from his Italian buddy Enno (Guido Gagliardi) and tries cards, with the same sorry results as the horses. By the time Theo has agreed to a smuggling run for some Mafiosos, he is in way over his head, rapidly making enemies on all sides, and soon the chase is on. The first in a trilogy of films starring the same character, Aufforderung zum Tanz was originally written for television but did so well it was later released theatrically. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
