A woman makes a terrible mistake, and discovers the consequences are greater than she imagined in this drama from Germany. Sylvia Mattis (Judith Engel) is a woman who married single father Josef (Horst-Günter Marx) and suddenly found herself stepmother to two often difficult children, Lea (Sophie Charlotte Conrad) and Konstantin (Leonard Bruckmann). One day, while driving home with the kids after a long day of errands and shopping, Sylvia snaps and stops the car by the side of the road, where makes the children get out before driving on. Before long, Sylvia comes to her senses, but when she retraces her steps back to where she left the kids, she can find no sign of them. Lea and Konstantin, meanwhile, have made their way to a public comfort station, where Kuba (Miroslaw Baka), who delivers supplies, finds them and takes them home. While the children are safe in his care, Kuba wants to see them returned to their family as soon as possible. However, when he discovers how upset Sylvia has become, and how desperately she wants to hide her wrongdoing from her husband, Kuba realizes this is a situation that can be manipulated to his advantage. Directed by Thomas Stiller, Die Wunde ("The Wound") chronicles young Julia's (Alexandra Schalaudek) efforts at revenge against the father she has never met. Robert (Horst-Gunter Marx), a callous business tycoon, had abandoned Julia's mother after an accident which left her bound to a wheelchair, leaving a then-unborn Julia to spend her youth caring for her disabled parent. Eventually, Julia gets a job at a strip club her father has been known to frequent. Along the way, she falls in love with Hendrick (Marek Harloff), without realizing that he is her half-brother. When Hendrik's mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer, his father Robert (Marx) left them in the same heartless manner as he had exhibited towards Julia's family. Die Wunde also features Sabine Vitua, Tajana Blacher, Annett Renneberg, Jens Eulenberger, and Mareike Fell. ~ Tracie Cooper, Rovi

The West German Die Venusfalle stars alluring actress Evelyn Rille as...alluring actress Evelyn Rille. The English-language title of this erotic drama is The Venus Trap, which should give one a good idea of its content. No mere sexploitationer, Die Venusfalle is given Tiffany treatment by director Robert Van Ackeren. The film proved quite popular in its native country, and matched that popularity abroad. At present, Die Venusfalle is one of the few German soft-core sex films available on laserdisc. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

In this melodramatic tale, the well-made plans of a career-obsessed woman are derailed when she sets her sights on a young man who is plainly not very interested in her. In the story, Katherina is an ambitious reporter for German television, and her Yugoslavian family background makes her a natural to cover stories in that country. While preparing a story on children with dual nationalities, she encounters Peter, a German lad who is researching his father's war record to see if he was guilty or innocent of war crimes. She brings Peter to see her family, and later her wooing efforts finally seem to bring her some promise of a relationship. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi
