Thomas Linder (Michael Lakner) is a piano student who arrives for his lesson and finds that his teacher, a wheelchair-bound homosexual, has been murdered. After he runs from the police at the murder scene, Thomas is arrested and charged with his mentor's murder and is falsely accused of being gay. Under duress, he confesses to the crime, even though he did not do it. His kindly grandmother tries to bail him out of jail and seems to be the only family member concerned for Thomas' safety. Thomas has nightmares in jail as he relives the death of his father and suffers from the stress of incarceration. The grandmother provides the only moments of comedy relief in this somber crime drama. ~ Dan Pavlides, All Movie Guide

Attila Hoerbiger and Paula Wessely play the title characters in the Austrian musical Ich und Mein Frau (I and My Wife). Feeling neglected, Sophie Nagimueller (Wessely) decides to make her husband Herman (Hoerbiger) jealous. This she does not by fooling around with another man, but by dropping hints that she might be dallying. Fritz Schulz contributes to the fun as Sophie's confused former fiancé. For once, the comedy supports the music, rather than the other way around. Ich und Mein Frau is hardly Shakespeare, but it is immensely entertaining. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Schabernack (Hoax) gets under way when heroine Eva (Trude Marlen) finds herself too broke to open her hotel for the season. Next door to Eva's establishment is a sanitarium, chock full of wealthy eccentrics. When the sanitarium burns down, its occupants move into Eva's hotel, whereupon it is assumed by the townsfolk that the girl is now in charge of a lunatic asylum. Thus it is that a wealthy and decidedly non-eccentric customer who checks in at the hotel is considered to be crazy and treated accordingly. All of this Marx Brothers-like zaniness is offset by the "normal" romance between Eva and her headwaiter Peter (Paul Hoerbiger). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
