A very special student deals with exams, first love, and national security issues in this teen-oriented romantic comedy-drama. Samantha MacKenzie (Katie Holmes) is a seemingly ordinary college freshman with one important exception -- her father happens to be the President of the United States (Michael Keaton). Samantha, however, would prefer to be as inconspicuous as possible as she begins her studies at Redmond University, so she asks a favor of her father -- remove the two Secret Service agents who follow her everywhere, and allow her to fend for herself at school. The president agrees, but out of concern for her safety, he sends in a young undercover agent, James (Marc Blucas), who will pose as the Resident Advisor at her dorm to keep an eye on her. Samantha and James strike up a fast friendship that grows into a romance, but when Samantha discovers the truth about James, she wonders if his love for her is real or just part of his cover. Married. . .With Children opens its tenth season as Bud (David Faustino) moves out of the Bundy household. Dad Al (Ed O'Neill) is delighted that he'll have one less mouth to feed--or at least, he was delighted until he found out that Bud was moving into the Bundy basement. As for Bud's former room, it is now occupied in every sense of the word by Peg's (Katey Sagal) overbearing mom (played by a never-seen Kathleen Freeman), prompting Al to head to Wanker county in hopes of persuading Peg's dad Ephraim (Tim Conway) to reconcile with his wife. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
This underrated teen-revenge horror film starring Stephen Geoffreys (Fright Night) was the directorial debut of Robert Englund, best known as Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street series. Geoffreys plays Hoax, a picked-on nerd who lives with his religious-nut mother Lucy (the marvelous Sandy Dennis). One day Hoax calls a 976-line for a "Horrorscope," and the demonic voice at the other end starts giving him wicked advice. Before long, he has killed his brother's girlfriend with tarantulas, slashed the face of a teen tough with his newly-sprouted talons, and gutted several of his tormentors. Only a well-meaning journalist and a sexy schoolmarm can stop the now-demonic Hoax before he sends the whole neighborhood straight to Hell. Granted, the screenplay is rather confused and slow-moving, but Geoffreys and Dennis are great, the effects work by Kevin Yagher is skillful, and this is one of the few teen-horror films with characters that are actually interesting. Look for Robert Picardo (The Howling) in a fun cameo as the diabolical Mark Darke. After a brief stint as a teen star, Geoffreys went on to appear in gay porn films as "Sam Ritter." ~ Robert Firsching, All Movie Guide

Peg (Katey Sagal) and Al (Ed O'Neill) plan a weekend getaway without the kids. Of course, this plan requires that Bundys dump their offspring Kelly (Christina Applegate) and Bud (David Faustino) upon some unwitting suckers -- er, baby sitters. Steve (David Garrison) and Marcy (Amanda Bearse) are chosen for this "honor," and they soon grow to regret their decision to invite the Bundy kids into their home. Depending upon which version of this episode one sees (original network print, syndicated print, DVD copy), the soundtrack features two songs by the Beastie Boys -- not to mention a tantalizing reference to Vanna White. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
