In this compelling drama, Marcello Mastroianni gives a tour-de-force interpretation of a disillusioned middle-aged man, a bee keeper who inherited the passion for his vocation from his father. After weeping silently at the end of his daughter's wedding ceremony, Spyros (Mastroianni) leaves in his truck to check on his bee hives and in the process gets involved with a winsome young hitchhiker (Nadia Mourouzi). She makes some advances which he immediately rejects, yet it is clear that he is ambivalent about her. Next he pays his respects to the people who have meant something to him in his life: his ex-wife, an old friend, and his daughter. Each time he mysteriously truncates his visit, and the enigma of what lies unsaid deepens after he encounters the hitchhiker again. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

A typical Greek comedy of the early '60s, this romantic tale is based on a stage play and follows the ups and downs in the love life of Julia (Tzeny Karezi), the daughter of business tycoon. Julia is used to getting her way since her father can afford almost anything, and so when she falls in love with one of his lowly clerks it is a bit of a problem. One of Greece's most popular actors, Dinos Iliopoulos plays the smitten clerk, Grigori. For some viewers, the pace may be too rushed and the acting too stylized and theatrical. Those aspects of the film betray its stage origins. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

In this drama, an evil-tempered old cafe owner becomes more cheerful when he must take care of an abandoned child. When the mother finally returns, the townsfolk begin spreading vicious rumors that she and the curmudgeon are an item. They survive the gossip and in the end, get the locals to like them. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
The Greek production Dracos would have been twice as interesting at half the length. The hero is a mild-mannered bank clerk who happens to resemble a notorious criminal. Mistaken time and again for the crook, the clerk becomes intrigued by his look-alike's dangerous but glamorous lifestyle. He finds himself being drawn into the Underworld, with hilarious and ultimately startling results. The same basic story, with a different denouement, was utilized in the John Ford-Edward G. Robinson collaboration The Whole Town's Talking. Dracos was one of Greece's entries in the 1956 Venice Film Festival. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

- Dinos Iliopoulos
