The world is in the grip of a viral pandemic that causes the dead to reanimate and feast on the flesh of the living, and as three groups of survivors attempt to document their survival on video for posterity, their numbers quickly begin to dwindle. In the early days of the 21st Century, a variant of the Avian Flu known as "Omega strand" began spreading across the globe with unprecedented speed. Though the virus has a nearly 100% mortality rate, it's victims appear to defy death by rising up and staggering through the streets in search of nourishment that only human flesh can provide. Will these desperate survivors make it to safety and live to share their tales of survival with future generations, or will their video document remain an unviewed document of the zombie apocalypse, destined to gather dirt until getting crushed under the rotting feet of the undead masses. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

In this partially successful Brit sci-fi comedy, four invading aliens cannot really think their way out of a paper bag, much less conquer Earth with their superior knowledge (apparently also non-existent). Of the aliens, Desmond (Jimmy Nail) is particularly thick-headed and leaves Bernard (Mel Smith) dangling out in space, Sandra (Joanne Pearce) attracts the romantic interest of British Commander Matteson (Dinsdale Landen), and Julian (Paul Brown) is along for the ride. After this trio causes a traffic snarl when they land on a British expressway, they are first interrogated and then given jobs in showbiz so they can support themselves. This leads to a great rock singing career, which in turn, leads to a U.S. tour -- though this does not equate rock singers and aliens. Meanwhile, Bernard has been saved from his abandonment in space by an unlikely space-wanderer who drops him off in the U.S., where he is put in an insane asylum. Sure enough, when his three companions start their U.S. tour, Bernard escapes and tries to rejoin them. The saga continues on until some sort of very unlikely rescue seems in store. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

Having written the music and screenplay for this film, Paul McCartney also plays himself in the leading role. When the sole copy of McCartney's latest album is misplaced, he must discover its whereabouts in less than 24 hours or else risk losing his recording company to the lowlife Mr. Rath (John Bennett). McCartney performs three new songs, along with a number of classic Beatles' tunes. ~ Iotis Erlewine, All Movie Guide

Upon their defeat by Francis Drake, a ship's crew which served in the Spanish Armada anchors near a small coastal village in England to make repairs on their vessel. While there, the cuthroat Captain Robeles (Christopher Lee) leads his men to take control of the town in an opportunistic move, claiming to have won a naval battle. Fortunately for the villagers, they are not without means defending themselves -- especially as one crewman decides to jump ship to help them. Screenwriter Jimmy Sangster, known mostly for his horror tales, contributed yet another character for Lee as he did previously in Curse of Frankenstein, Horror of Dracula, The Mummy, and Scream of Fear. ~ Kristie Hassen, All Movie Guide

Up the Creek is a mirthsome remake of the classic Will Hay comedy Oh, Mr. Porter (1937). Whereas the Hay film concerned an inept railroad stationmaster, the hero of the remake, Lt. Fairweather David Tomlinson, is an inept naval officer. Transferred to the HMS Berkeley, a decrepit WW2-vintage destroyer where he can do the least amount of damage, Fairweather teams up with his new bosun Peter Sellers for a variety of slightly larcenous money-making schemes. Things come to an uproarious conclusion when the admiralty shows up for an inspection of the Berkeley. Surprisingly, Up the Creek was filmed with full permission of the Royal Navy. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
