In this Halloween episode, Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) and Iolaus (Michael Hurst) are summoned to Dacia by King Vlad (Jeffrey Meek), who claims he wants to rid his domain of vampires. The two Grecian strongmen are aided by one Galen (Stephen Lovatt), who can't understand why his sister Nadia (Tiffany DeCastro) vanished after a visit to Vlad's castle. Ultimately, the horrible truth dawns upon our heroes: Vlad and Nadia are the vampires of Dacia -- and Hercules and Iolaus are next on their "bite" list. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Accepting his designation as "the chosen one," Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) agrees to defend Eire against the invading Julius Caesar (Karl Urban) -- who is already reeling from previous encounters with our hero's female counterpart, Xena the warrior princess. At the same time, Hercules endeavors to reform the surly demigod Morrigan (Tamara Gorski) so that she can properly exercise her duties as the new Druid of Justice. In this Xena: Warrior Princess spin on the Bill Murray movie Groundhog Day, Xena's friend Joxer (Ted Raimi) is killed after getting enmeshed in a family feud. The next day, Joxer is killed again...and the same the next day, and the day after. Realizing that she is somehow trapped in an endlessly repeating time warp (and she's the only one who realizes it!), Xena (Lucy Lawless) must somehow alter events to set things aright. A shipwreck deposits Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) on the shores of Atlantis. Here he meets the fortune-telling Cassandra (Claudia Black), whose efforts to tell the warmongering King Panthius (James Beaumont) that Atlantis is doomed have fallen upon deaf ears. Both Cassandra and Hercules are thrown into prison, where Hercules discovers that Panthius was not only responsible for destroying his ship, but has enslaved thousands of shipwrecked sailors to mine the crystal necessary for the king's deadly, high-powered cannon. In this tale of sleazy romance that turns deadly, novice Kiwi director Denis Lewiston has created an unevenly paced story with several gripping (and groping) scenes. Christine (Simone Griffeth) is an American married to a rich but crass businessman, and unknown to them both, Greg Sandford (Steve Marchuk) is planning to break into their opulent digs and rob them blind. Right in the middle of carrying out his preparations, he arranges for an "accidental" meeting between himself and Christine -- and the sparks of sexual attraction ignite a blaze that not only lands them in bed, but burns up whatever morals Christine may have left. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

After wiping out half a village of native South Pacific tribesmen, Captain Bully Hayes (Tommy Lee Jones) is eventually captured, put in prison, and the rest of this swashbuckling action film is told in a series of flashbacks as he remembers the recent past. The lead-in scene may be off-putting, but its larger context is soon revealed. Hayes had just left a young couple, Nate (Michael O'Keefe) and Sophie (Jennie Seagrove) on an island so they could set up housekeeping and follow in the missionary footsteps of an uncle, when the villain Ben Pease (Max Phipps) shows up, kidnaps Sophie and leaves her husband for dead. Pease runs into a German naval officer who feels it would be advantageous to join up with him -- so when Captain Hayes saves Nate and, the two go looking for Sophie, their enemies are formidable villains indeed. Laced with humor and acting in the grand pirate-movie tradition, Nate and Hayes has enough adventure and style to stay entertaining for its 100-minute running time. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi
