Sos Egelind Movies
A big hit in its native Denmark, this feel-good romantic comedy is about sex, children, marriage, and infidelity. The film focuses on two married couples. Sus (Sidse Babett Knudsen) and her Italian husband Sonny (Rafael Edholm) are debating whether or not to have a child; he's eager to have one while she waffles. Meanwhile, Niller (Niels Olsen) and Lizzie (Sos Egelind) decide to adopt a baby girl from Africa. When Niller and Sus meet for the first time, sparks fly, but nothing ultimately happens. Later, though, a pregnant Sus dumps Sonny after learning of his philandering, and her thoughts once again return to Niller. Den Eneste En was screened at the 1999 Haugesund Film Festival. ~ Jonathan Crow, All Movie Guide

As children will often do, Eigil (Bjarke Smitt Vestermark) has a hard time with certain figures of speech his parents habitually use. Why are they "leaving the Snooks" and "buying a cat in a bag?" (These are Scandanavian expressions for going crazy and getting the worst of a deal, respectively.) He believes that the Snooks must feel bad about being left in that fashion, and surely someone must rescue that poor cat. In this children's movie combining puppets and live action, Eigil sets out to make things right. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

At a pace faster than a speeding bullet or flying cream pie, this farce is about two men -- hunk Walter (Ole Stephensen) of the dim bulb, and slapstick shoe repairman Carlo (Jarl Friis-Mikkelsen). Straight out of Danish television, the two characters are already stereotyped as they set off through exotic Spain on a package tour. Instead of the usual treks through museums, historic sites, and restaurants, there are encounters with diamond smugglers, thugs, and the requisite pretty women. Between Carlo's jabber and Walter's befuddled views, the duo are hard-pressed to woo and win. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
