In this spoof of old-fashioned murder mysteries, Detective Tomas Hatcher of Scotland Yard (Martin Dejdar) is dispatched to Ravenscroft Manor to investigate the murder of Patrick (Matt Hantley), who has been working at the palatial estate as a stable boy. Hatcher quickly discovers nearly everyone has a secret, even Mr. Ravenscroft (Peter O'Toole), whose recent death doesn't stop him from making an occasional appearance around the house, often in very tasteful drag. It also seems that Patrick is very much missed by the women of the house, including Mrs. Ravenscroft (Greta Scacchi), her daughter Gillian (Laura Harris) and Gillian's governess (Gabrielle Anwar), all of whom were sleeping with Patrick at one time or another. Jealousy may be the killer's motivation, but given's Patrick's fondness for freely sharing his love, how do you narrow the suspects down to only one jealous party? Leading man Martin Dejdar also co-produced The Manor, which was the first Czech-financed film to be shot entirely in English; while little known in America, Dejdar is a major star in his native land. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

This rock & roll musical drama from the Czech Republic is set in 1959 and chronicles the rebellious youth of Baby, a guitar-playing rocker wannabe from a working-class neighborhood in Prague. He earns extra money caring for the senile mother of a serious policeman. This does not prevent him from joining up with the officer's daughter and other neighborhood rebels. The adults of the neighborhood are appalled and worried for their children because in 1950s Czechoslovakia, outward rebellion is a crime. Still the young carry on, and music and mayhem ensue. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

This Czech drama is the first film version of Kafka's unfinished novel. The film has a theatrical feel as it follows protagonist Karel Rosmann from Europe to America where stays with his Uncle Jacob, an industrialist. Karel has many experiences there that leave him beginning to feel paranoid; especially after he becomes victim to the sexually forward daughter of a business associate of his father. In disgrace he leaves his uncle's and takes up with Topic, an alcoholic hobo, and a barmaid, Klara. Topic pushes Karel into a fight and Karel, believing he's killed him goes into hiding where he is protected by Green, a nasty old man, and Mack, a punk. His two protectors are literally the death of him. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

Outbreaks of lethal violence at international soccer events only became really noticeable in the late 1980s. A rash of sociological investigations took place as a result. This film attempts to dramatize that research, showing that the youngsters involved came from families where they were brutalized and understimulated by insensitive and animalistic parents. In the story, after a championship match, a group of youths are arrested for vandalizing the passenger car of a train. Their trial and the events leading up to it are interwoven in this straightforward movie. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi
