Sideways star Thomas Hayden Church appears alongside Academy Award-winner Robert Duvall in a dramatic mini-series shot in the classic western tradition. The year is 1897. As Print Ritter (Duvall) and his estranged nephew Tom Harte (Church) travel the slow road to reconciliation, they reluctantly find themselves forced to care for five abused and abandoned Chinese immigrants while simultaneously attempting to deliver a herd of horses across the plains. Soon confronted by a gang of malevolent kidnappers who intend to abduct the girls and use them for the own nefarious purposes, Print and Tom determine to keep their young charges out of harms way while ensuring that their valuable delivery reaches its intended destination. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

This slapstick Hong Kong action film follows the passengers of the Shanghai Express, a train running to the small village of Hanshui. Plenty of action takes place as the gallery of wealthy socialites, con men, cops, and train robbers speeds towards its destination. Directed by Sammo Hung, a master of comedic action and martial arts fight choreography, this film stars Hung, as well as a an all-star cast of Hong Kong favorites, including Yuen Biao, Rosamund Kwan, Richard Ng, and Cynthia Rothrock. Although many films in Hong Kong cinema are associated with low production values, Shanghai period pieces are often executed with a surprising level of consistency, and director Hung has succeeded in this genre on many occasions. ~ Jonathan E. The problems of life in the whirl of a modern city are dissected in this atypical Hong Kong drama that emphasizes human relationships and character development. After she is successfully established in an ad agency, a young woman takes in her sister-in-law from the mainland as a gesture of help and friendship. The sister-in-law is waiting to sign off on a divorce and is soon converted into a Hong Kong shark who is after both cash and a position in the world. This is disturbing enough, but when the career woman hears that her parents have died in an automobile accident, her values and expectations of what she wants for herself undergo a drastic alteration. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
Lau Kar-wing spins this restrained horror-comedy flick about a beautiful lass cursed with terrible luck. The prospective spouse they choose is Bruce (Alan Tam Wing-lun), and they spend much of the film trying to get the two together.
