A group of hardened Nazi killers stalk their prey in Nazi-occupied France as a Jewish cinema owner plots to take down top-ranking SS officers during the official premiere of a high-profile German propaganda film. As far as Lt. Aldo Raine (aka Aldo the Apache," Brad Pitt) -- is concerned, the only good Nazi is a dead Nazi. Raine's mission is to strike fear into the heart of Adolf Hitler by brutally murdering as many goose-steppers as possible, or die trying. In order to accomplish that goal, Lt. Raine recruits a ruthless team of cold-blooded killers known as "The Basterds" which includes baseball-bat-wielding Bostonian Sgt. Donnie Donowitz (aka "The Bear Jew," Eli Roth) and steely psychopath Sgt. Hugo Stiglitz (Til Schweiger), among others. When the Basterds' secret rendezvous with turncoat German actress Bridget von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) goes awry, they learn that the Nazis will be staging the French premiere of "The Nation's Pride," a rousing propaganda film based on the exploits of German hero Fredrick Zoller (Daniel Brühl), at a modest theater owned by Jewish cinephile Shoshanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent), posing as a Gentile after the brutal murder of her family by the ruthless Col. Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). As the Basterds hatch an explosive plan to take out as many Nazis as possible at the premiere, they remain completely oblivious to the fact that Shoshanna, too, longs to bring the Third Reich to its knees, and that she's willing to sacrifice her beloved theater in the process. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Entire families were crammed into overcrowded freight trucks without food or drink and forced to endure a journey of several days as unsympathetic guards loomed ominously nearby with guns at the ready. It was during this time that many of those unfortunate souls surely began to realize that this voyage was only the beginning of their woes: Passengers such as famous pugilist Henry Neumann, singer Jakob Noschik, and frightened teenager Ruth Zilbermann. Now, as they roll ever closer to their grim destiny at Auschwitz, the only question that remains is who will survive this dreadful ordeal? ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Another of the many Mary Higgins Clark adaptations produced by and for the PAX Network, We'll Meet Again was one of four such adaptations filmed back-to-back in Vancouver during the summer of 2002. Laura Leighton stars as TV reporter Fran Simmons, who returns to her New England hometown for a reunion with her high school friend Molly Lisch (Brandy Ledford). The occasion is not altogether festive; Molly has just been paroled after serving nearly six years in prison for the murder of her wealthy husband. Protesting her innocence, Molly hopes that Fran will help her clear her name -- and, incidentally, track down the genuine killer. But when a new spate of killings takes place, it appears as if Molly is up to her old tricks. Making matters worse, Molly suffers from what appears to be selective amnesia and is unable to account for her actions during the latest string of murders. Key elements in this story include poisoned champagne, a fireplace poker, and a very old pair of shoes. Mary Higgins Clark's We'll Meet Again was originally broadcast on November 17, 2002. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Many may not know that Ireland maintained its neutrality during World War II, so that any soldiers from that conflict who found themselves on Irish soil had to be kept in captivity until the war's end. For a variety of aeronautical reasons, quite a few Axis and Allied pilots found themselves having to bail out over Ireland. In this film, captives Miles Keogh (Bill Campbell), a Canadian pilot, and Count Rudolph von Stegenbek (Angus Macfadyen), a German pilot, are rivals for the affections of Mattie Guerin (Jean Butler), a local Irish girl. How this rivalry continues is just part of the story of this exciting and romantic film. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

This very short student film (55 minutes) was an unexpected commercial success in Germany. The story concerns the man-troubles of two women who are friends with each other. Maischa (Nina Kronjaeger) is man-hungry and knows it. She can't resist a good-looking man and generally gets the ones she sets her sights on. It's just that once she's got 'em, she's not all that happy about it. Her latest conquest is Rene (Gedeon Burkhard), a real looker who is also a thorough-going jerk. On the other hand, her friend Frenzy (Katja Riemann) spends most of her time slaving over her syndicated cartoon strip. She doesn't have much time or interest in dating. However, she has somehow managed to land what seems like the perfect man, a fellow who neither has a self-esteem problem nor goes around puffed up with arrogance, who is amusing and beguiling. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

Ingo (Jurgen Vogel) is a moody fellow, much given to dark looks and long silences. In his personal life, he is a writer, but his "day job" is as a dishwasher at a restaurant. One day, an actor at one of Germany's eight major acting schools leaves a stool from the school at the restaurant, and Ingo must go to return it. Since the only people who ever darken the school's doors are actors, the people there immediately assume that Ingo is one, too - especially since he has so much beautiful "attitude." One thing leads to another, and before long he has made the acquaintance of Johannes (Kai Wiesinger), a very dedicated actor, who has flunked out of all seven of the other acting schools due to his pathological fear of auditions. He persuades Ingo to join him in a jaunt to Munich to try for a role on the professional stage, so that he won't have to constantly audition for school productions. For a lark, Ingo, whose girlfriend just jilted him, agrees to go along. Before long the two intrepid aspiring actors are joined by a third, a smooth ladies' man named Ali (Gedeon Burkhard), and their adventures have just begun. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

An American filmmaker travels to modern day Berlin to make a film based on a real-life incident from 1942 in which 13 Jewish prisoners from a concentration camp were promised freedom if they appeared in a German propaganda film. Unfortunately, the German's lied. The psychological process undergone by the modern filmmaker while shooting the story provide the basis of this arty and challenging film. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
