Jigsaw, the diabolical criminal who captured the imagination of horror fans in the 2004 hit Saw, returns in this equally bloody sequel. Eric Matthews (Donnie Wahlberg) is a police detective who, after discovering the aftermath of a particularly gruesome murder, is convinced that Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) is up to his ugly tricks again. Matthews' hunch turns out to be correct, but the master criminal proves to be disconcertingly easy to capture. As it happens, Jigsaw is eager to be put behind bars in order to throw the authorities off his trail as he once again punishes people who in his eyes have transgressed the boundaries of acceptable moral behavior. But instead of trapping two people in a filthy dungeon where they must engage in a terrible contest in order to win their freedom, eight people have been locked away by Jigsaw, and they must torture their bodies and minds to achieve the terrible justice Jigsaw seeks. Lots of people have misgiving about their in-laws, but in this offbeat comedy, a man discovers that his new son-in-law's father is significantly stranger than he's able to deal with. Jerry Peyser (Albert Brooks) is a well-meaning but slightly anal-retentive podiatrist who doesn't much care for surprises in his life. When his daughter Melissa (Lindsay Sloane) announces she's going to marry her boyfriend, Mark Tobias (Ryan Reynolds), Jerry figures that helping his wife plan the wedding and getting through the ceremony is as much excitement as he needs or wants. However, when Jerry and his wife, Katherine (Maria Ricossa), meet Mark's father for the first time, Steve Tobias (Michael Douglas) ends up taking Jerry on the ride of his life. Both Mark and Steve's ex-wife, Judy (Candice Bergen), seem to have a decidedly ambivalent attitude about Steve, and Jerry finds out why -- Steve is actually an undercover agent for the CIA. In the guise of doing Steve a favor, Jerry gets dragged into a strange and dangerous episode involving international arms dealers, French super-villains, heavily armed men's room attendants, and a stolen private jet belonging to Barbra Streisand, as well as several less-than-pleasant encounters with Angela (Robin Tunney), Steve's colleague in espionage who doesn't trust Jerry. The In-Laws was adapted from the memorable 1979 comedy of the same name, in which Alan Arkin and Peter Falk played the mismatched fathers. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Nikita (Peta Wilson) and Michael (Roy Dupuis) pose as husband-and-wife mercenaries. Their mission is to capture an elusive chemical-weapons terrorist. Will this assignment add an additional strain to Nikita and Michael's relationship? There isn't much time to ponder this possibility during the episode's climax, in which Nikita risks a horrible death while attempting to disarm a canister of deadly gas, wired to detonate in a crowded train station. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Hoping to stop Chinatown restauranteur Henry Lee (Yu Kun Lu) from exhorting his fellow tradesmen to rise up against the tyranny of gang boss Charlie Wong (Joel de la Fuente), Wong orders his minions to kidnap Henry's son David (Michael Hong). Fraser (Paul Gross) and Ray (David Marciano) make it their mission to return David to his family unharmed. This mission, alas, is seriously compromised by the well-intentioned interference of overzealous FBI agents Ford and Deeter (played respectively by Alex Carter and Mark Melymick, in their first joint series appearance). The "female Bruce Lee" martial artist, Cynthia Rothrock, stars as a cop who is tired of doing detective work on theft and who tries her hand at solving a murder case so she will be assigned to the homicide division instead.
