In a story powered by the songs on an LP by Mick Jagger, this film is really one long video clip advertising Jagger's album. The plot takes the music from one number to the next, and begins with the rock star and his wife having an argument in Rio which leads to his being mugged and taken to the interior of Brazil to work on a plantation. Once there, the lady of the manor chases him around, but he manages to escape back to Rio only to find that someone else has been impersonating him and making off with the big bucks. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

Brazilian director Glauber Rocha has come up with a confusing socio-political film, a visual and musical collage that bombards the senses. Opening scenes show Native Brazilians dancing in a frenzy, and then those scenes fade into a wild Mardi Gras carnival. After this introduction, two opposing politicos and sensuous, flamboyant women present visual contrasts as a historian comments on the history of the country. A pretty secretary is fired after refusing to give in to her boss' amorous advances. While walking home, she is picked up by a bordello madame. She and her roommates visit the bordello but find the facility to be tawdry. They conspire to become high priced call girls and use the files of the lecherous boss to assess the income of prospective clients. Their apartment soon is turned into a luxurious love nest as they acquire a steady business of wealthy men. One man likes to videotape his erotic adventures for later viewing. Although the trio attains financial independence, they are unable to free themselves from the daily responsibilities and separate their personal and professional lives. ~ Dan Pavlides, All Movie Guide

An adult tale that has ample nudity and a few sexual encounters, this drama by director Ruy Guerra centers around a wealthy lothario who has never done a moment's work in his life -- and is suddenly faced with poverty. Or to be more precise, the rich father who supports him may lose all his income. Rather than getting a job, the playboy hunts up an accomplice who will help him out with a blackmail scheme. He plans on photographing his uncle's mistress in the nude, and though it works and he gets the photos, everything falls through and they opt for finding another target, the uncle's daughter.
