A dedicated lawman hunting terrorists in war-torn, 1990s-era Algeria becomes an increasingly popular target amongst the most murderous men in the region in director Okacha Touita's entry into the 2007 Montreal World Film Festival. Inspector Brahim Llob is well known for his efforts in ensuring that the most elusive terrorists in Algeria pay for their brutal crimes - so well known, in fact, that instead of being the hunter he now officially qualifies as the hunted. Convinced that each day he shows up for work will be his last, Inspector Llob is ordered by his commanding officer to round up his two lieutenants and locate the missing girl of a retired government official. Later, while closing in on a radical fundamentalist organization on a deadly campaign to do away with Algerian intellectuals, Inspector Llob continually crosses paths with various people previously implicated in a high profile scandal and quickly begins to suspect that his every move is being dictated by the powers that be. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Both dramatic and humorous, this political tale is set in a small eastern Algerian town that has a mayor and a city council but not much else. One day, two government representatives arrive to announce that the nation's "Leader" is going to pay the sleepy village a visit. This sets off a furor and a big debate between the mayor and his friends on the one hand and the government representatives on the other. The local officials want to construct some new housing and make town improvements, but the government officials disagree. Their solution is to imprison the local officials, wall-off the slums from sight, and nationalize the local industry: a flour mill run by Mr. Fabre (Jacques Dufilho) which has one employee. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
