Alison Eastwood, daughter of actor/director Clint Eastwood, stars in this made-for-TV nailbiter as Patricia Collins, a TV journalist who is summoned to the city morgue to look at the body of a young female murder victim. Patricia is shocked to discover that the dead girl is her exact double -- suggesting that she was killed in a case of mistaken identity by an unknown assailant. As the story progresses, it becomes clear that this disturbing incident is linked with the supposed death ten months earlier of Patricia's own father, whose body disappeared along with 200,000 dollars he had pulled out of the bank. And what has all this to do with a demented stalker who is plaguing Patricia via fax messages? Or, for that matter, with a shady fertility clinic, the specialty of which is in vitro fertilization of twins? From the "smart heroine isn't smart enough not to confront the villain alone" school of murder mysteries, Mary Higgins Clark's I'll Be Seeing You (based on a novel, as if there were any doubt) premiered December 19, 2004, on the PAX network. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The director (Rob Cohen) and star (Vin Diesel) of the previous summer's hit The Fast and the Furious (2001) are reunited for this spy thriller billed as a next-generation James Bond adventure. Diesel stars as Xander Cage, a nihilist extreme sports enthusiast nicknamed "Triple X" because of a large tattoo covering his back and neck. Cage's illegal stunts and poor attitude (he's given to spouting dialogue such as, "Have you ever been punched in the face for talking too much?") land him in jail, where he's recruited/blackmailed into government service by the National Security Agency's Augustus Gibbons, who likes Cage for his skills and expendability. The new secret agent is assigned to infiltrate a Russian crime ring called Anarchy 99, whose access to biochemical weaponry is making the United States extremely nervous. With the help of some high-tech gadgets from weapons master Toby Lee Shavers (Michael Roof), Cage is able to make his way into Anarchy 99, where he targets the group's leader Yorgi (Marton Csokas) and falls for the organization's second-in-command, Yelena (Asia Argento). XXX (2002) is the first in a hoped-for franchise of sequels for the film's producer, Revolution Studios. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

Taking a breather from the increasingly soap-operatic plot entanglements of the Faith (Eliza Dushka) story line, "Earshot" displays the simpler spirit of season one. After battling a couple of fish-like demons, Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) kills one rather messily, with some green demon ooze soaking into her hand. Over the next week, Buffy begins to be able to read students' minds; Giles (Anthony Stewart Head) informs her that the ooze probably imbued her with the telepathic powers of the demons. At first the thoughts are benign, then in the cafeteria, she hears someone think, "This time tomorrow, I'll kill you all." Other people in the school, including a teacher, voice similar sentiments -- setting up red herrings -- as Buffy and friends attempt to find the disturbed person. This allows for some comic scenes such as when Xander (Nicholas Brendon) utilizes the situation to question girls on their turn-ons and date choices. It also leads to Buffy finding out that her mother had sex with Giles on the hood of a police car while under the influence of tainted snacks (see "Band Candy"). Buffy is soon receiving too many telepathic voices to make sense of them and will be driven insane if the power doesn't go away. ~ All Movie Guide

This German farce has fun parodying the local filmmaking industry and some its more popular stars as it tells the riotous tale of a neglected, lonely Munich housewife who writes a tawdry best-selling account of her sexual past. The situation begins when Franziska, the wife tires of hanging around the house raising two mischievous children while her husband the television director gallivants to far-flung locales sleeping with every actress in sight. She has a conversation with an understanding lawyer and through miscommunication ends up launching divorce proceedings. It is the lawyer who advises her to write down her erotic history. Later, an old high school flame turned publisher sees her manuscript and suggests she publish it as an erotic novel using a pseudonym. Things go swimmingly until her husband buys the film rights and decides to turn it into a trashy movie. This film was extremely popular in Germany. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

An incarcerated homicidal maniac hits the road after taking hostage the pretty prison medic who told him he has a malignant brain tumor. With a few surprising twists and much inky-black humor, this German comedy chronicles the strange adventures between the hostage and the killer. Edgar's ruthless exploits are well-known in the criminal community and word of his break-out travels fast. Meanwhile Lucy (the hostage) takes Edgar to a restaurant to sample sushi for the first time. Just as they begin to dine a crook bursts in with a big gun, saying he is Edgar's brother. He then begins sternly lecturing Edgar for killing their foster family. Edgar goes into one of his strange fits and kills his brother. This is only one of a long string of murders as many crooks want to kill Edgar, and none can succeed. One person who benefits from the melee is the local arms dealer whose business is suddenly booming. Despite all the bloodshed, Lucy remains strong and calm. In fact she slowly becomes the dominant one and as Edgar's sexual needs begin to reawaken, a strange romance blooms. Edgar begs Lucy to make love to him. Unfortunately, she has chosen to be celibate. Fortunately, she decides to make a sort of exception for him and takes him to a hotel where she subjects him to one of the funniest, darkest love scenes in recent cinema. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

In 1983 when this film was shot, the imaginary, far-distant future was set in 1997, when the evil manipulation of a laboratory in space was planned with the idea of controlling the climate of the area around Saudi Arabia. With this new twist on climate-control, Western forces could invade that country literally under cover. But if the climate alteration were to happen, it would cause flooding to rival the biblical deluge, and so the plan must be stopped at all costs. The commander in charge of the space lab refuses to follow through with the project, causing Houston ground control to send up another two astronauts to take over the military objective. The space lab then becomes the scene of a battle between the forces of good and evil that will determine if a second Noah is going to be needed on earth. Neophyte director Roland Emmerich in this diploma film for the Munich film and Television School might have spent more time on the storyline, tying up several loose ends and filling in where needed to add a bit more suspense and excitement to the telling. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
