In this broadly satirical TV biopic, Shirley MacLaine pulls out all the stops as legendary cosmetics queen Mary Kay Ash. In Citizen Kane fashion, Mary Kay relates her rise to the top of the home-beauty industry to an inquiring reporter (Rachel Crawford), never allowing an opportunity pass to emphasize how many doors she has opened for the working women of America. Ultimately, however, Mary Kay's predominance is threatened by a much younger (and shriller) rival, Jinger Heath (Parker Posey), whose BeautiControl company takes an enormous bite out of Mary Kay's share of the market. Caught in the middle is a slightly off-center beauty named Lexi Wilcox (Shannen Doherty). Hell on Heels: The Battle of Mary Kay originally aired on October 6, 2002. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

As indicated by the title, this made-for-TV movie charts the rise and fall of Olympic figure skater Tai Babilonia. Partnered since childhood with Randy Gardner, Tai skated her way to the 1979 World Championship. Her hopes for Olympics success in 1980 are scuttled when her partner Gardner suffers a groin injury and is unable to compete. Tai responds to this disappointment by descending into drug abuse, culminating in an attempted suicide. The plucky skater recovers from all this, and the film ends on a hopeful note. On This Ice: The Tai Babilonia Story stars Rachel Crawford as Tai and Charlie Stratton as Randy, but that's the real Babilonia and Gardner recreating their classic routines in the long shots. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

E.N.G is a "feature film" comprised of episodes from the Canadian TV soap opera of the same name. Set in the studios of a fictional "Channel 10," the title stands for electronic news gathering. Sara Botsford stars as Ann Hildebrandt, the know-all TV news executive producer. Ann's affair with cameraman Jake Antonelli (Mark Humphrey) is but one of a myriad of plot threads. The third principal player is Mike Fennell (Art Hindle), E.N.G's news director, who will do literally anything to pump up ratings. Shown in the daytime hours in Canada, E.N.G was telecast in the U.S. in a variety of timeslots by the Lifetime Cable Network. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
