The stuck-up attitude of Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) comes back to hurt her in this important first-year episode. While campaigning to be crowned Sunnydale High's May Queen, Cordelia's date is clubbed to death by a possessed baseball bat. A friend of Cordelia's then falls down some stairs, leading Buffy to believe that an invisible assailant might be at work in Sunnydale. Soon enough, Buffy discovers evidence of a girl named Marcia Ross (Clea DuVall) living in the recesses of Sunnydale High. Among her belongings, she finds a yearbook signed by Xander (Nicholas Brendon) and Willow (Alyson Hannigan), although no one seems to remember the girl. Treated as invisible for so long, Marcia has actually become invisible and is exacting revenge upon her classmates. Buffy finds a way of stopping her before she can kill Cordelia, creating some goodwill between the two. By the end, Marcia is taken away by federal agents to be rehabilitated at a school for other invisible students, foreshadowing other political entanglements Buffy will encounter in future seasons. Another point of interest in this episode is the first meeting between Angel (David Boreanaz) and Giles (Anthony Stewart Head). ~ All Movie Guide

Elsewhere, a terminally ill patient (Sanford Meisner) is inadvertently given a brief "reprieve" by Carter (Noah Wyle). Ross (George Clooney) is surprised when Carol (Julianna Margulies) drops by -- during Ross' intimate dinner with Diane (Lisa Zane). Made for television, The Challenger is at once a tribute and a eulogy to the seven courageous souls who perished when the Challenger space shuttle exploded 73 seconds after liftoff on January 28, 1986. Though all of the crew members are given three-dimensional, balanced treatment, the one we all remember is schoolteacher Christa McAuliffe. As played by Karen Allen, McAuliffe is neither superwoman nor saint: just an average human being with an insatiable thirst to learn more about the universe around her. The other members of the ill-fated crew are Cmdr. Francis R. Scobee (Barry Bostwick), Captain Michael J. Smith (Brian Kerwin), Dr. Judith A. Resnik (Julie Fulton), Lt. Col. Ellison Onizuka (Keone Young), Dr. Ronald E. McNair (Joe Morton) and Gregory B. Jarvis (Richard Jenkins). Wisely, the film concentrates on the crew's training, ending before the tragic real-life denoument. First telecast on September 21, 1985, the 2-hour pilot for the TV series Lime Street stars Robert Wagner as James Greyson Culver, an investigator for a prestigious London insurance company. His assignment is to get to the bottom of a plot to assassinate the royal family of a British principality. With three successful previous series to his credit, Wagner was money in the bank to Lime Street, which at its inception seemed a shoe-in for a long run. But the series was doomed before its premiere by an unforeseen tragedy. Wagner's daughter was to have been played by Samantha Smith, a young girl who'd risen to fame by writing a friendly letter to Soviet boss Yuri Andropov. Alas, just one month before the premiere of Lime Street, Smith was killed in a plane crash. Only four episodes of Lime Street had been filmed; out of respect for Samantha Smith, star Robert Wagner and the ABC network agreed to shut down production forever. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Based on a series of Rolling Stone articles by Aaron Latham, this romance was set in the world of L.A.'s hip fitness scene. Rolling Stone reporter Adam Lawrence (John Travolta) comes to L.A. to write a story about a prominent businessman who's been arrested for drug dealing (shades of the John DeLorean scandal). He's also decided to research a piece on the exercise fad and how health clubs have become the "singles bars of the '80s." His boss (real-life Rolling Stone editor Jann Wenner as himself) OK's the project. At a club called The Sports Connection, an incognito Adam meets the regulars, including promiscuous Linda (Laraine Newman), airhead Sally (Marilu Henner) and aerobics instructor Jessie (Jamie Lee Curtis), a former Olympic swimmer. Adam and Jessie begin a romance, but it ends when she discovers that he's there to trash her and the club in print. Conflicted, Adam wrestles with publishing the story, but the final decision isn't his. A director of sincere, sober dramas, James Bridges was an odd choice to helm the romantic Perfect (1985), widely considered one of the decade's notorious cinematic misfires. Bridges had enjoyed much greater success with his previous collaboration with Travolta, Urban Cowboy (1980). ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

A TV news crew manages to videotape a vicious arsonist in the act. Hunter (Fred Dryer) and McCall (Stepfanie Kramer) do their best to bring the firebug to justice, but are stymied at every turn by the well-meaning interference of the TV people. Ultimately, howver,.
