In this erotic romp from Playboy, private detective Sam Drake heeds a sexy siren's plea and begins looking to see who may be trying to kill her filthy-rich husband Harcourt Higglesbottom. The investigation proves anything but routine, for no matter where Sam goes on the Higglesbottom estate, he finds himself tempted by one of four luscious ladies, any of whom could be the attempted killer. The story features plenty of nudity and softcore sex. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

A "let's save the business" film comparable to Malibu Bikini Shop, Bikini Drive-In, and so on, this exploitation comedy manages to be funny and sexy enough most of the time to please genre fans. The plot concerns porn star Marilyn Chambers (as herself) helping her friend save a vegetarian cafe by making the waitresses wear bikinis. Comic highlights are provided by Pamela Safaraba as Bettina Borg, a homely spinster on the neighborhood morals council who tries to shut down the bikini bistro with vociferous protests. But the point of any film like this is nudity and sex, and Bikini Bistro does okay in this department, with several scenes of nubile young hardbodies getting it on in closets and on rooftops. Okay, that is, until the final scene featuring the aging Chambers and a tweedy restaurant critic. It's shot in softer focus than usual, but enough of the ravages of time are obvious to be somewhat distasteful. Otherwise, this formulaic sex comedy is often funny and occasionally titillating assembly-line fare. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

Ron Fazio returns as The Toxic Avenger, "the first hideously deformed monster hero of superhuman size and strength ever to come from New Jersey," in Troma's mercenary sequel to its hit film The Toxic Avenger. Since Toxie cleaned up Tromaville, New Jersey in the first film, he now has no one to fight. He works at the Tromaville Center for The Blind and has a girlfriend named Claire (Phoebe Legere). But the peace in Tromaville is shattered when an evil chemical company, Apocalypse Inc., and its dastardly chairman (Rick Collins), set their sights on Tromaville. In order to take over Tromaville, the Toxic Avenger must be eliminated. By intense study, Apocalypse's second-in-command, Maifaire (Lisa Gaye), discovers that Toxie's desire to vanquish villains is caused by particles manufactured in his body called "tromatons." Apocalypse Inc. bribes Toxie's psychiatrist to suggest that Toxie form a relationship with his father in order to get Toxie out of the country. His father happens to be in Japan and Toxie makes the trip to find him. While out of sight of his hometown, Apocalypse Inc. takes over Tromaville. Meanwhile, in Japan, Toxie finally finds his father but it turns out that his father is an arch-villain who must be killed. This soft-core T&A comedy concerns an attempt by Russian spies to rob a sperm bank for the frozen seed of Albert Einstein and Thomas Edison. Porn director Chuck Vincent (Roommates) peppers his cast with blue-movie stars like Jane Hamilton (aka "Veronica Hart"), Jamie Gillis, Jennifer Delora, and Annie Sprinkle, but fails to generate any heat, the peculiar but altogether typical result of attempting to turn what are basically stunt persons into actors. Vincent retired from hardcore in the mid-'80s and turned out a number of numbing soft-core entries such as this one under his Platinum Pictures banner before succumbing to AIDS ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi
